Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

just because Hastings in a team playing well does not mean he is the reason they are.
So by 851 example next year if Brooks is playing for manly and they make the semis it will be all because of him ?
Newcastle are playing well that is because of Ponga

So on the flip side,,,people can’t use the argument then that when the Tigers played bad in 2022 that Hastings was to blame?

Now we have no halves and not much chance of finding another halves pairing as good as what Hastings and Brooks could have been.

This makes the argument a lot stronger. I assume Sheens wanted to have Hastings in the middle with Brooks and Doueihi running a little wider.

Maybe Bateman hates Hastings with a passion and that was a reason they let him go but who knows.

I do know that Hastings is gone and Brooks is going and Doueihi is the worst performing player out of all three of them by miles and he is staying.

Just to add I'd retain Doueihi next season because I think it's the right thing to do. It's also a hail mary play that he comes good and sometimes those plays do come off. Maybe this time it will come off.

It was well documented Sheens only saw Hastings as 13 and then once known Bateman didn’t want to play alongside Hastings, he rolled out the red carpet for him and sent Hastings packing.
Those disgraceful decisions should surely mean we never let Sheens have anything to do with recruitment and retention ever again.
So we have had Ivan Cleary advising the club that Teddy, Moses and Woods were not worth the pay increase they were asking for, Mick Potter & Jason Taylor advising Koroibete and then Addo-Carr were not up to NRL because they didn’t defend well enough on the wing.
Talent ID, team selection and roster management has not been a strong point of the past 3-4 coaches we have hired.

Agree about sheens. Can’t remember all the details regarding the big 4 but Teddy reported accepted less to go to roosters and Moses had a lucrative contract I front of him for months and didn’t sign. They were leaving regardless.

This pack has been found to be severely lacking - Despite the anticipation you'd expect on paper....
I've seen nobodys like Tom Hazelton from the Sharks punch holes in them.
Klemmer has fallen off a cliff and not offering much more than Tamou was
(His pausing before the line in borderline disgusting)
Stefano has plateaued again...

The only upside to our pack this year has been Pole again, Although it's also been a long season for him.

Api, Bateman and Klemmer were good up to the past 8 weeks or so … Api is the only one still playing well…

Perhaps the other two have looked at the backs and thought why should they bother…

Ice has been a passenger 90 percent of the year…
No the majority of the squad, the culture and the coaching is....
We're getting the same results as before he came, when he was here - after he left....

they need a new backline other than the 1

Thanks!

When you say Tedesco has no interest in joining the club, does that mean the club tried? Or are you just stating this?

Hope it's the latter, he shouldn't be someone we look at. (Nothing personal like some here, hes old and on the decline, plus Bula)
Apparently Teddys manager made a soft approach for a return when the Rorters extended Sualli . (Saw the writing on the wall ) .The word was the Tigers were not interested . So probs dirty we wouldnt add to his retirement fund & Sheens saw Bula coming through. Since then , Sualli has fallen out with the Rorters & resigned Turde$co.

Why would you want Tedescco back at the club, at every opportunity he has had he bags us and is relatives tell anybody who listens that he is a better club and that the fans and club West Tigers did not appreciate him or his ability.
As much as it Hurts, He is correct for the most part around the club.

The Fans did appreciate him.

Aaron Woods is far more openly condescending, he's a serious duche!

I heard it was the other way around.... Benji approached Teddy and sold the new vision of what he's trying to do and if Tedesco would ever consider a reunion when the time came as he was seeing what was unfolding at the Roosters. Wasn't 100% shutdown but Teddy made it clear his preference is to remain at the Roosters. Apparently if Teddy had agreed to come back or given indication he would heavily consider it that Moses would've signed on the dot with the goal to "bring the band back together" and have a potential spine of:

1. Tedesco
6. Brooks
7. Moses
9. Api

Unfortunately due to Tedesco's reluctance to come back Moses then had Parra up his offer and decided to remain at the club. Brooks also has now left. Bula has also come from nowhere and looks to be our long term fullback.

So in regards to Teddy ever coming back.... I'd call it extremely unlikely.

Now that's what I call a HBom. Troll? Do you want Tedesco back? "Are you serious"? to quote the great John Mcenroe - apologize for spelling mistakes.

moving this thread on

- sullivan met with the knights, would prefer to stay closer to wollongong as huge family on the south coast, tigers have sent contracts to tartak, unless dogs come in, he will sign next week

- staines and club in discussion

- tedesco has no interest in joining the club

- bevan frenches name keeps popping up, but it does every off season
Bevan French would be a gold signing can play anywhere in the backline , he has that X factor, and this is what we need , would love to see us sign him

Bateman has moments, Don't know he's been good....
Has dumped plenty of clean ball with plenty of stupid turnovers.
Klemmer is playing for too long and not scaring anyone...
In fact, No one in our pack scares anyone - Like always... Aitasi gives me some hope.

Agree on the others...
And the backs have long been a problem, (Would be worse if without the emergence of Bula)
I'm glad fans here are starting to come round to it.
They're just not quality...
What has Bateman done good except build his stats with plenty of third man in arm grabbing tackles ?
He is the ONLY second rower in the NRL that does not run on to the ball hard whether they receive the ball or be used as a genuine decoy.
Out attack stifles whenever the ball goes his way due to this.
Papali’i at least runs the ball hard, I cannot believe anyone could think Bateman has been better than him.
Klemmer was certainly disappointing against the Rabbitohs and his impact has been in decline since he played great against the Cowboys at Leichhardt, but I think he’s done enough to be given the benefit of the doubt and hope he rediscovers his best for next season.
I think Stefano has been good without being brilliant. He’s still only 23y.o so his best years should be approaching,
