Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

That has been rumoured...though Id think hes too smart to wanna go and work with Latrell
That said head coaching jobs dont appear outta nowhere all that often and hed have a great knowledge already of the goings on there before hed even start
If John Morris goes to south's it's simply a bench warmer position until Sam Burgess is ready.

Short term gig.

Don't do it John

It’s interesting but would be surprised because of the way he left. The club is a mess from admin to roster and he wasn’t listened too last year - moving JD doesn’t change any of the bigger issues.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Madge or Holbrook (he is at the Roosters now and Souths do like poaching a Rooster) is in the mix.

If Wayno wants to be head coach he would be a walk up starter as doesn’t have a head coaching gig next year.

It would be typical though, we finally get a coach to sort out our defence and those mongrels at South's pinch him.
I wouldn't worry too much just yet. Hornby, Burgess and of course Bennett are all in the mix too. The reasons he left there are still present. Bennett is the man to get the best out of those players.
I get the feeling Morris will like to see through what he has begun here ( not to say he doesn't want to be head coach) and of course, if he is that valuable, then pay the man accordingly.

I doubt any assistant is going to turn down a head coaches gig because they are building something at their current club. The only reason they turn it down is cos they are waiting for a better gig like Bellamy did with us in 2002.

Well I should have been more specific. I don't believe he will go back to Souths yet as in my opinion it is more attractive to finish what he has started here than to go back to the same problems that caused him to leave there. If it was another head coaching gig than yes, I would expect him to go.

1 try
22 runs for 302 metres
2 line breaks
10 tackle breaks

that is a first grader. yes he has issues defensively but I'd back Morris to sort him out. stuck behind Kiraz, Addo-Carr, Tracey and Wilson... we could certainly do worse.

He was there and knows what goes on , Trell and Walker do as they please , he won’t go back as he has already stood up against it , South’s need to move Both those players on to get on top

it’s a reserve playing against reserves …

Holbrook is an interesting shout.

300 metres is nuts.

Personally I don't think Morris would want to do that.

When Sam Burgess was being openly critical of things going on with the coach, Mitchell, Walker etc. there was not a peep out of Morris, but then he probably did not have a job lined up with us at that stage and may very well have thought that he should play it safe and keep out of it.

Love that Alex Johnston has recently been reported as being critical of the coach and fat headed Latrine, If he is on the outer for speaking up, then there is a spot over here for him on the left wing, at a club that is on the rise.

That left side attack at Souffs has somewhat dried up in recent times and as a result his try scoring numbers are way down on what they were in the past, I can imagine that with Olam and Lachlan Galvin on that left side his numbers would be way up again.

Like you Ink, I don't think Morris would want to go and work with Mitchell, but as you said, "head coaching jobs don't appear outta nowhere all that often," if you could sort out that mess you'd be a genius and if you didn't it could very well be career suicide.

I think the Jason Demetriou situation in hind sight is similar to Madge Maguire in that he probably should have been gone at the end of last season and instead the problems continue on to the middle of the next season, but who knows, maybe he wins 10 in a row and gets a 3 year extension, strange things have been known to happen.

Personally I think he needs to go and it's not that I don't like Demetriou, actually to be perfectly honest, I don't like Demetriou, it's mostly because I HATE SOUFFS.
