If it was simply an issue with roster spots, Bateman & Doueihi for Ravalawa...I'd do that.

I know Ravalawa is going to be described as potentially the worst signing ever by some on here, but there is always a place for big bodied, try scoring wingers.

Yep, and Doueihi wont be able to lift. Its a stupid cause trying to fit him in.
Olam and Bird will be the centres for round one surely.

I'm not buying in to the Doueihi negativity completely.

Better defenders around him will disguise the failings better than last season.

You need your better defenders on at the start of the game. Pole is ordinary.

But he’s pretty good in contact . His issues are when he tires , he’s lazy to his position around the ruck . Which gets exploited .

Except....Bird played extensively at centre (with a hand full of games at 5/8) and not at all in the forwards in 2024

I think if the focus is on defence especially on the edges, we may see Bird at right centre inside Skelton and outside Seyfarth to bring some experience to that edge (with Sam Fainu/Olam/Turuva on the left).

But in saying that, I do remember at the time of his signing, it was said Turuva would be given first crack at centre and maybe that's just in the trials to see how it goes.

In a perfect world, To'a will take a quantum leap forward in defence, physicality & effort and say 'right centre is mine'!!!

Yes, like most average defenders, if you run straight at them, theyll get you.
His Kryptonite is his lateral movement defending against footwork or angle changes around the ruck as you said.

yes and he was below first grade standard there. he's not a week-to-week outside back anymore. it's time for him to become a utility player.

Hope Turuva makes a go of it at centre, but I'd really like to see the 1-2 hitups from Skelton and Turuva to get our sets going.

Although later in the year if he starts on the wing Makasini and Skelton would be even better.

A pretty good winger. That was his original gig at Souths I think- thought he was pretty good.

they did overachieve, but Jack was dropped mid-season in favour of Max Feagai.

he has a role to play at WT, but it's not in the centres.

He lost the spot due to injury but Feagai had found form so struggled to get back into the side.
