Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Beau Ryan and Woods the biggest douche's.

Gordon Tallis beats both of them put together. Although I guess the media has gone off him a bit.
..

BTW hell's waiting room. Is working in an office with TODAY FM on all day. It's like an under 16's girls camp where they play the top 5 singles over and over again. MAN THAT SUCKED!
Ah yeah. I’ve been there are a couple times. 2SM with Bob Rogers, where he’d have quizzes, and no one under 80 would call in. He’d ask the question they’d think real hard, and I’m sitting there in a quiet office screaming in my head “JUST GOOGLE IT”

I think that is the best we can field in round 1, not a bad line up IMO. Short a good back rower. Seyfarth can do the job in the interim

Watched Galvin interview , doesn’t seem ina. Rush to sign up , says still got a year to go so worry about football for now , , is impressed with the new signings , I would have thought he would be saying training now and will look at future early new year , still think others are out there after him on the side ( Dogs & Roosters )
He has one eye on the Roosters and the other on the Dogs... :-(

Surely Latu makes the top 17

Did Bennet say family is more important than football in those quotes ?

Also there’s many people - and books - written about Bennet that he uses that to manipulate players and then dumps them after

Whereas I think benji is more authentic about it than Wayne - and that’s the point

Bennet uses it as a tool to get his players to love him

Benji actually means it - “football is a tiny thing compared to family” quote from Benji the other day

I love Benji btw

No way we get luai or May without Benji

But he needs to stop saying stuff that seems like we aren’t a club that will die to win football games
Bennett didn’t use more than 3 words in an interview for 20yrs and that was a long one. And, I can’t believe anything Boyd says about his father Inlaw.
I don’t doubt Wayne does says what he needs to, to get the best out of his players to win games bcoz at the end of the day if you win everyone is happy.
I agree with you, I would rather Benji be saying we do whatever takes to win games, and then when we have won and knock off, it’s family time. I want my family to see and know I do whatever it takes out there to make sure we have a good and happy family life.

What interim , are we getting one for next season if not and he’s still here , Bateman is still better than what we got . We really need another backrower for next year , our success might depend on it

Geeze benji pushing family before footy again so front and center is going to be his downfall

No other coach says it

During the press conference I reckon Richo was sitting there thinking “shut up benji” when he started his rant about it

Yea everyone know family is more important but to win a premiership players need to be told footy is everything to make them train and play that extra harder to the death

That’s just my opinion

Let’s see
As someone who’s defended Benji on here a lot I actually agree. I think there’s a time & place for it & that press conference certainly wasn’t the time for it. The vibe around the club at the moment is how the the tide is slowly starting to turn amongst all the recruitment & players lately & what better way to strengthen that message if Benji comes out & relays the message of being successful & turning this club from wooden spooners into premiership contenders. Instead we got a message about how footy isn’t everything. I noticed Richo said the best spine in the game comment after Benji said that…. I think that was Richos way of putting a bit of pressure on Benji.

I 💯 agree with you

I love Benji too don’t get me wrong

I think out of all the coaches he cares more about his players having successful family lives after footy than any other coach

But that’s the problem

He’s not employed to make sure they have happy family lives after footy (I mean I’m human don’t get me wrong - it’s the most important thing in life)

But Benji job is to win football games

I just think he’s confusing the message and if I the owner of a football club I would choose the coach who says football and winning is everything and we die for the jersey above anything else in life … than the guy who says football doesn’t mean that much in the grand scheme of life bc family is everything

He’s employed to win football comps

And yes I agree - if you listen to Richo podcast with james graham before he became tigers CEO he said that most managers and people associated with football teams don’t achieve success bc winning is really really hard and takes lots of sacrifices.

I think richo is letting benji talk his talk bc I don’t think he can control benji on that

But I do think that richo knows what it takes to win - and he’s hoping that benji will succeed but he’d also be thinking the same thing as us - benji is a super nice guy… but he may not be a killer

Just like benjis career - he wasn’t a killer - he played for love and enjoyment - and that’s what he teaches his players - but benji also didn’t give us sustained continued success … for most of his career he was 50/50 rocks or diamonds …

Again I love benji and he gave me the best ten years of my life watching him

But it’s soooo bad of him to keep pushing this message … I think we’re already seen as having a soft underbelly , a nice club that most other fans like bc we are the good guys

And Benji is a good guy

But his not a killer

Even Bennet is a killer disguised as an old father figure that jokes around with players

I’m worried we’re going to be rocks and diamonds like Benji career was and we will lose galvin if we don’t start well

I hope for benjis sake he’s successful but idk

I guess worse case scenario benji gets punted next year and we lose galvin - but at least benji got us luai and may … and we would never have gotten them without him… and we probably lose galvin anyway bc if luai can’t convince him to stay than I don’t think anyone else could

It’s all upside I guess - but I’m praying for benji - he’s a nice guy and club legend and deserves to have a coaching legacy - but we’ll see

Was glad to read this toward the bottom of your post... Been thinking it for a while.

Benji is Trying to be the Man Manager 'He Saw' in Bennett type Coach, Because that was 'his' experience (In very their short stints together) and it worked for him.
For every other Bennett feel good story - There's a ruthless heart breaking divorce Story.

Benji really is hoping that if he can get them focused and happy off field, that will translate to results....
I feel that's more possible with seasoned professionals, Or the top echelon of Talent in the Squad....
Not young blokes so much.....
We have far too much of the latter and not enough of the Formers for this approach for mine....
The need to know what hard work is - The hardest of work, And that every moment, every ball and every play matters... If Benji appreciated this more, He'd have done much more than he did.

We all love him, It's hard not to - Here's hoping it works out.

Yeh nah, I think Benji (and Richo) is recognising the talented vertical marketplace of Samoa. That’s who he wants to receive this message. The players’ mateship extends far beyond the players and includes extended family. You can’t buy this level of esprit de corps. It’s been bubbling away for centuries .
Tigers culture has been vastly different, more like home wreckers.

Love it but I think Twal makes the 17. Sione probably 18th man.

But as pointed out round 1 TDS starting 9 & Latu at 14. Then Api back after that. Competition for the 14 jersey & bench forwards.

Also competition for the backs.

How good!
