Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The issue with Galvin is his dad .. he's a greedy little turd .. he has been asking the manager how much will Lachie get on the market .. he has been asking the manager to make inquiries with Rorters, Parra, Souths and Sharkies .. he is looking for top dollar for his son.

A quick little jab at Bateman from an Army buddy up at Lavarack Barracks Townsville .. when John and wife and child moved into their brand new house Townsville .. after a few days John and wife complained how hot it was inside the house even though it was a brand new build .. double glazed windows, super insulated with a huge air-con .. John demanded that they put in another air-con unit to help cool the house. He doesnt like the heat the poor bugger. My mate said they saw Mrs Bateman picking up little Johnny up from training and they said even though it was hot day .. she made it even hotter .. then one commented that they hope Jonathon "sticky fingers" Thurston does see her .. i cracked up over that comment .. lol

Good to see big Royce Hunt looking super fit .. boys have been putting in hard over the off season .. hopefully the hard pre season training will prepare us well for the season .. since Luai and Turuva have arrived everyone has been lifting their training patterns and really putting in onfield training drills and working really hard in the COE gym .. !!

Starfod To'a is training the house down now fully over his injuries from last season .. dont be surprised if he is one of our starting centres come RD1.

I disagree. Last season as a 19 year old he was expected to be the main man, and to be fair he tried really hard to be that player and went well. This year with Luai will be completely different, he will be able to follow Luai's lead and chime in when he sees something. The combination will take time to work but Luai will demand, and receive, the ball often leaving Galvin to have limited but hopefully quality touches. The kid is a gun and he will improve even more this year, no second year syndrome for Gal!
Yea well , I have more faith that a bunch of the nrl know what they’re doing and will game plan accordingly .

I honestly don’t get the hate boner for Bateman.

Theyre completely different position and he was swapped back and forth a few times. No doubt there was other factors affecting his form also
I don't think you can call last season "swapping back and forth a few times". His season was well and truly a disaster before Rd 21 when he played his first game on the wing in 2024.

He played 21 games for the Broncos as follows:

Centre (17 games)
Pre-Season Challenge
Rd 1-10
Rd 12
Rd14-15
Rd 17-18
Rd 27

Fullback (1 game)
Rd 11

Wing (3 games)
Rd 21
Rd 25
Rd 26

Did Not Play
Rd 13
Rd 16
Rd 19
Rd 20
Rd 22
Rd 23
Rd 24

See link below
Selwyn Cobbo Career Games

He played the majority of last season at Centre in 2024. He was only swapped to the wing, right at the end of the season, so that should have played zero factor in his form until Rd 21.

In 2023, he played the whole season on the wing and scored piles of tries. So he can play both positions. There are many players that can play both. Most centres and wingers will have swapped between positions before, particularly if you've been playing footy a long time. Different jobs, yes. Beyond players to be versatile enough to cover both, no.

An extremely fit and dedicated Starford To’a is a much better player than many of us think he is.
I do agree it would be nice to see it more than a couple of times per season to really be convinced.
Rugby League Guru done his predicted Wests Tigers 2025 team line up yesterday and for someone who doesn’t support the club, his knowledge of our players was very good and interesting to hear how general rugby league supporters such as him rate sone of our players such as To’a, Doueihi and Seyfarth more highly than what many of our own fans do.
He did leave To’a out of his best 17 for us, but stated a fit and healthy To’a is definite NRL standard.

To'a is 25 this year reaching his prime years now it's his time has reasonable pace also can remember some good tries scored in the past.
