Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

He is an excellent backup winger. He will be dirt cheap and fill a hole for us.

These are the exact signings we need - depth. Those are the only blokes we will sign for the rest of this year

Big signings will come next year
We don’t need more depth for the sake of depth. We need to be filling the gaps at the top which will then create the depth.

2nd rower and lock priority.

AJ isn’t any better than Staines or Faataape in my opinion. If he is back I hope it’s a state cup contract.

The Warriors have apparently recently signed Morgan Gannon for 2026 and beyond.
He is an up and coming young, mobile and aggressive edge back rower in the Matty Nicholson mould.
The Warriors don’t even need more edge back rowers, how do we keep missing out on these opportunities?
I’d like to bet The Warriors will not be wanting to offload any of their own young up and coming back rowers, so it might mean an early release is in the cards for Kurt Capewell ?
I know it’s not ideal looking at or potentially signing forwards on the wrong side of 30, but Kurt Capewell has always kept himself looking very fit and he still looks to be quicker than most other NRL edge back rowers.
If he become available I think he would be a good fit for season 2026 and 2027 while we wait for someone else to develop internally.
Capewell is a journeyman but I wonder if he gets on the nerves of his teammates as he moves on quite frequently or he just literally goes to the highest bidder

You need to do both - we have our starting wingers for the long term locked in. Problem is when we have two backline injuries, we have Faatape on the wing.

We need a solid backup winger, Staines is meh and always injured, Faatape is just not a winger, he's a centre.

As for second row, we definitely need to sign a top line second rower which can then push Seyfarth to being the backup option.

Lock too. You make a good point about signing top talent to create depth

what do we do then if Haywood gets to TD's level and we lose him?
are we then going to keep trying to bring younger guys up only to lose them?
there has to come a point where you keep TD's , in this instance, and build around him
and the other youngsters in the team now.
Manly had a similar question before. They had Trent Hodkinson who was carving it up...
They realised they had someone better in lower grades, DCE.

TDS needs to push Api out if he wants to stay. Can't remember who, but it was summarised that TDS is more like Michael Ennis then a Damien Cook. Haywood seems a better development prospect and would happily pair him with Api...

The key:
We choose who we want.
We get rid of Grubs, and grubby managers. I suspect we have lost Bula due to us pushing Issac Moses back in the club... So we start again... NO GRUBS.
We get people who want to play here and who like playing here. It's a priviledge to wear our jersey, we carry 200 years of NRL experience and toil as the WT.

Tiger pride.

Its a good move. I have always liked Kepaoa. Too good for KoE. Needs to prove himself to establish a presence in first grade but that may come with age and experience. When we first signed him from the Roosters I thought we were onto a winner but he didn't kick on. Hopefully his best is in front of him.

To paraphrase that advertisement: Why not keep both?
Answer:
Because we have Hayworth, who some are saying is a better prospect then TDS...

But, hey I am up for it. If TDS wants to play here and a faster style out of Dummy half seems to suit us...
Then we make it work, but we make it clear, our NR1 is Api.
We are no flight deck. Nor a charity house. We will do what's right by Api and he will and has done right by us.

Yep wouldn’t surprise me is we need a fullback soon. The Large boy might’ve have been handy to have, but apparently wanted 6?
They said Kennedy was available to talk, or maybe that was from November 1.
I would support a club Blacklist I’d all Isuk Measles players and family, and anyone else that calls him a friend, or acquaintance.
Does he have a dog? Someone should rescue it.

He’s better in the sense that , he’s had higher rep honours than TDS at the same age . From watching him , he seems really shift around dummy half .
For me I’d love a 9/14 combo of TDS and Hayward in 2028.
I saw something interesting on 360 today . Api is a bears junior , and will be thier target for thier inaugural season . Maybe he goes to Perth for a fat pay check and a couple of years . I wouldn’t begrudge him .

if true it’s going to polarise the fanbase, but AJ is effectively what Skelton was in Cup last year. devastating yardage winger that is ready for more but stuck behind others on the depth chart.

always thought we wrongly pushed him inwards as a backrower as opposed to moving him to the sting and working on his flipper hands with time in reggies. Penrith have done that and we may well be the ones to benefit with what is effectively a 12 month loan.
12 month loan?

Man if you have AJ kepaoa in position 28-30 on your roster , you’re going alright . If he’s in position 17-21 or god forbid 1-5 or even a depth edge back rower your in real trouble .
He has hands like feet . It’s always been his big issue . As soon as he plays nrl the best halves target him. Those halves just don’t play reserve grade , because of the nature of of things .

On Kepaoa we also need to realise we are very short on outside backs for next year at this stage

We currently have
Skelton
Toa
Turuva
Luke Laulii who will still only be 19
Saukuru who hasn't made it out of Flegg
Makasini - who hasn't even made Flegg

Currently that's it in the outside backs for next year. Nothing wrong with signing a bloke with 50 nrl games and who is currently the best winger in nsw cup comp to your roster especially when the club knows what kind of person he is
