Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Q1 correct
Q2 no
Q3 yes
Q4 do you think the phin's n pidgeons play in the semi's ?.
I am actually looking forward to the Phins vs Dragons in a final game where a fight breaks out.

You know like the old St George vs Steelers games! No one knows who's who. Just the fans punching out their own does it for me.

Who’s fault is that? He has been controlling our roster for 3 years and has signed a bloke for at least 500k per year who is now playing reserve grade

As a whole, the club has not been able to externally identify and sign any junior talent since the Fainu’s and that was old management despite them not being any better than current.

We haven’t even been able to keep our own ffs
No "super good" Talent.

Tristan Hope
Heath Mason

Both come to mind. I like Hope, but both are fringe graders not guns.

Ray Stone for sure although has had his fair share of injuries however we need players like him to change how we play with much more aggression and passion. Stone does also cover all of the backrow plus hooker.
Ray Stone is a Tigers type signing.

The kind of cult favourite from another club of the great story that gives hope to people that no matter being a midget, if you work hard and train hard you will play first grade.

Anyone ever seen the movie Rudy? Check it out.

Press conference and a term I hate - “He’s a great competitor”.

I want established first grade weapons. Not journeymen.

Someone said 4 spots remaining for next season?

Bunty Afoa
Harrison Hassett
Raymond Faitala Mariner
Freddie Lussick

There are players I prefer, but this covers a lot of holes.
RF Mariner is DONE... No we are not hiring a 32 year prop on their last contract.

Bunty Afoa would be a good pickup. We need some beef and we need forwards.
If a long term deal it could be his last and he hasn't been in the Warriors first grade side for awhile. ...

I suspect (dare say hope) AD is gone. So we need to pick up a first grade center or wing.

Two weeks in a row I've noticed a real poor attacking approach.

Predictable and everything targeted to the middle. Our edges are so underutilised.

Embarrassment.

We need to utilise the entire field and all attacking angles, not just trying to score under the posts every time.

Send every set to the left, get em comfortable, thinking the left is on, then go right. Idk... surely there's some kind of intelligence in the coaching room that can see what we're doing isn't working and we need to DO MORE.
Cooper Cronk in and one of our dud assistants out , it’s that simple , we have not been able to attack properly for years not games years

"he hasn't been in the Warriors first grade side for awhile" doesn't that tell you something.

I think we just have over exhagerated views of our pack. Look at these two packs for eg, including knights who are close to dead last.

Roosters = 8.Whyte , 10.Collins , 11.Crichton , 12.Foketi , 13.Leniu , 14.Wong , 16.Steep , 17.Butcher.

Knights = 8.J.Saifiti 10.Thompson 11.D.Lucas 12.KPP 13.Frizzell 14.Hastings 15.Croker. 16.Crossland 17. Hetherington

I can barely find a spot for a Tiger in any of them. Terrell May makes both, Samuela and Pole get a bench spot for Knights.

Twal/Sukkar/Seyfarth/Sione Fainu/Bird/Hunt don't make either of them.
Great post - send it to Richo!

I think you are missing the point that our defence in particular lacks line speed and lacks aggression due to having a forward pack full of players that make tackles only because they have to, but no intention to hurt the opposition or make a difference.
Ray Stone alone will not make a world of difference, but a player like him could be the starting point in signing a few players who do defend with intent and aggression.
If we were to sign him, I would play him at 9 for the first 20 mins of each game before bringing Api on once the heat of the battle has settled and we would then have the option of using Stone as a 13 and he would likely only play 40-50mins each game just for his aggression factor alone.
As I say we need more aggressive defenders than just him, but he’d be a start and maybe a few of our current players would find the courage to show a bit of line speed and hit a bit harder from playing alongside him.

While I agree that we need some more aggression, I am now convinced that this is mainly due to our coaching and development.

Terrell May is absolutely capable of being an impact forward with aggression, he is now coached to preserve himself so he can play 70-80 minutes. More minutes, but less impact.

I still remember a game at Campbelltown about a year or two ago where Fonua Pole came off the back fence about three times like a rampaging bull. He is capable but is now playing longer minutes.

Look at Galvin at the Dogs yesterday, everyone said he didn't play straight enough with us (rightly so) but already changing his game, playing at the line, playing much straighter.

We are the club where players come and regress. Not many improve here.
