I dont know.
Who?
I don’t know either, but Isaac controls the club at present and no doubt he will want to slot another coach he manages in there. Maybe Isaac has some good assistant coaches ready to step up? Or I wonder if with Peter Parr becoming the new GM at Newcastle he will seek to cut the cord with Issac like the Broncos did when they got rid of Siebold.

Brooks should have had a better career should have been made 5/8 at the beginning of his career in the NRL
He's really no better as a 5/8 than he was as a halfback. I don't really agree. I think he's a below average half wherever you play him. The problem with him at 5/8 is that he stifles backline movements when the ball has gone wide with always taking the wrong option. He gets more chances to run out wide but I think he's more threatening as a runner through the middle. But wherever he plays he reads the game really poorly so he makes errors and misses opportunities and never knows when best to make the play. That's why I sort of think he's just as good (or bad) at halfback. If you could pair him with a 5/8 like Munster maybe he'd be better at half than his current form as a 5/8.

Irrespective, there are very few halves in the NRL who you'd say are worse than him, and half of them play for Newcastle.

I think Cameron is a bit under the radar tbh. He made his NSW cup debut earlier in the year and was in very good form in Flegg. I think if he was healthy he'd be the Flegg fullback right now over Logan Brookes but it's all retrospect. I like them both obviously.
Seriously? Brookes has a million times the potential of Kanaan. So much X factor and game breaking ability. Kanaan just didn't have the pace or ability to break open a game. A solid player, like Naicori, but anything that screams ability to play at a higher level. Brookes has a lot in common with a young Papenhuyzen

I didn't say I think he has higher potential than Brookes. I said I think he'd be the Flegg fullback. Part of the reason Brookes is the Flegg fullback is because Cameron got hurt. He was playing very well and I don't think they'd have fast tracked Logan to Flegg in the form he was in.

You're talking to someone who made a highlight reel of Logan titled "The Prototype" and called him the best junior we have. Cameron is older than him and wasn't droppable on form.

That’s tough to say, are we talking about the same Kanan from the games he played this year ? Could you show us the stats in all games he was involved in, id love to see the mould of a backup he fits.
The kid who played 3-4 matches for flegg and we got smashed by like 40 in each of them from memory?
The backs who started the season just weren't good enough. Craig, Piccirilli, Kanaan, Conti, Hammond etc, just not up to flegg level

Thanks for information. Cameron was playing very well and the big turnaround in the side occurred with the appointment of a new coach.

Kanaan was probably MOM nearly every time he played in that beaten side. Just cuz the side got lapped doesn't mean they were all terrible. There's a reason he got a NSW cup debut this year.

Most Issac Moses coaches aren’t travelling to well at the moment

Newcastle's Adam O'Brien, St George Illawarra's Shane Flanagan, Manly's Anthony Seibold, New Zealand's Andrew Webster and North Queensland's Todd Payten – on his books
I suppose you could put that down to shit management. 🤣

Although he only ever plays approximately 20mins, it cannot be denied we are a better team with Royce Hunt coming off the bench.
I’ve changed my mind a few times rs on whether he’s a player we should be keeping or trying offload, but at the moment he’s the only real enforcer we have.

Amen! He hits the line with punch, and it takes 3-4 guys to bring him down which means at least one of them needs to sprint back to the line, become the A-defender who needs to set the line speed for the next tackle. If he finds his front, he creates qptb for the next tackle. In other words, he makes opposition middles work, which leads to fatigue, and opportunities around the ruck.

And having him on for 10-12mins either side of the half means Benji's explicit instructions are to keep working hard in defence for that period. No need to think of the long-game and conserve energy. Rip in, do your job softening up the interchange oppo mids, and then get-off.

There was always the question about whether it was us holding him back or whether that was the best Luke could be...I think people are happy it's not us that's the problem and that narrative seems to have disappeared.

Recency bias? Wests won the wooden spoon without him in 2024.

He played well behind a pack with Paseka, Croker, Jake T, Haumole, Brown, Aloiai. With all of them out, he now has what he had at Wests for years.

Anyway, why am I contributing to this? He's not a Wests Tiger anymore.

No recency bias...but nice university protestor buzz word.

He didn't set the world alight in 2024. Just did the same things he did with us. He wasn't a standout by NRL standards and that was the knock on us...a kid who was "the next Andrew Johns" wasn't "unlocked" at our club and DCE would allow that to happen. He was just ok. He was always just ok with us too, but never a guy that could change a game with his brilliance.
