Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Then I think we picked the wrong Bronco..

Look, Jayden may have improved a bit under Bennett. Ofcourse though Bennett doesn't seem too willing to keep him.

Madden has management, but Billy Walters has it as well and seems to have a better handle. I think if we could bring Billy back we could get Kevie to add input and his input would be valuable IMHO...

Madden isn't a first grade manager and I don't think he can teach what is required. Unless Adam Reynolds has been teaching him a lot, and I doubt that has been happening... I don't see a reserve grade halfback showing anyone.

The options people won't like:
Chad Townsend
Jackson Hastings
Neither of which I would pay over 300k for.

Another possibility is newly retired halfback James Maloney or Scott Prince... Doubt though we would get them.

The Elephant in the room. Why does Benji need a top tier Halfback? He spent most of his career playing 5/8 and secondmost as 7, occasionally as 9. If he can't coach a halfback and I think he can't, then what can he do?
Weve already got Benji so why bother with Prince?

What about Stef , he has proven to be an absolute grub , 1st left our club to move to a more consistent top 8 club, rather that pushing through with the club that gave him a start,2nd his grand final statement and now 3rd pushing for Tigers player (Pole) to leave and head back to Melbourne. His Cuz or not he is a grub and and so is Galvin and I'm glad both have moved on.. keep cutting out the cancer and form a brother hood and play and win for each other at all costs.

The point is Bula himself can activate his own contract extension at 800k which is extremely good money for a player of his ability.
It would appear Wests Tigers are baulking at activating his extension at 900k and could you blame us if this is correct ?
Some say what is an extra 100k, but like everything there has to be limit and I’m of the belief that when any player is being paid above 800k they become in the elite marquee player category.
Some say Bula either already is elite or fast approaching elite player status, others disagree and have not seen it and don’t anticipate on seeing it anytime soon.
Obviously a lot of this is guessing and joining the dots together based on the recent media report from Michael Chammas, but logically there must be some hesitation from both parties otherwise the deal would have already been done.

You’re guessing and assuming.

He could activate, he could have offers of more, he could be working with the club or he couldn’t give a crap right now etc.

The fact you keep harping on about it all the time is rubbish.

He changed managers, activating the clause isn’t in his management’s best interests.
Bula has said a fair few times he wants to stay and have a longer deal. He is married he isn’t going to focus year to year & doesn’t need to unless their is significant benefit to him.
Extending for 1yr means little.

He will get 7-800k on the market, someone will pay that be it direct or mixed with cap/3rd party agreements. So activating the clause adds no value to him.

You make it out that it’s all Bula but if anything it sounds like it’s more the club driving the outcome, which given we haven’t activated the clause isn’t a bad thing.

Does the old saying when you have too many props add one more have any logic.

I guess it does when you consider they cop most of the brutal impact playing through the middle.
Exceptions to the rule but when sides get decimated with injuries most of the time it's the forward packs that suffer.
Probably only a real problem if Terrell goes down for any length of time now that Bunty has joined.

Benjis career started going backwards the moment we let go of Lui - which coincided with his move from 6 to 7..

On his day though, Benji is probably the best 6 the game has ever seen.

So it makes sense to bring in a specialist 7 who was one of the best in their field, cause that wasnt benji, he was a 6....

I think the time is probably right for Bellamy to move on. From his POV anyway. The Storm would probably be happy to have him another 10 years, but he probably feels he’s done all he can do. Brave man to uproot himself after so long to go to a train wreck like the Titans though. If he could turn them into contenders, he’d solidly himself as the GOAT.

Whoah, whoa, whoah whoah whoooooaaaahhhhhhh there.
When you talk about the best 6’s ever, Benji is not in the conversation.
Wonderfully entertaining player, but no. Just no.
On his day, not a soul comes close to his footwork and running game.. it attracted defenders and created space for everyone else.. his speed and acceleration really played a huge part too

He was rocks and diamonds though.. Form dropped off when Prince left, then again when Lui left. Goes to show the importance of a specialist 7..

I think he ranks amongst some of the best he really could turn a game on his day, just look at our grand final his flick pass set us up to win the most important game of our Wests Tigers existence.
Watched the highlights of his debut game against the Sharks on utub yesterday. Did nothing overly special but the footwork was there from the get go.
edit: oops Knights not sharks as Insaneink pointed out.
