Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Elite half in Luai, man you can't be serious, he only played a handful of useful games for us and our best wins were when he wasn't playing start of the season.

We will miss his defense out wide he's a good defender but he has been far from elite for us, for mine one of the young fellas will fill the hole he leaves behind.
He’s an origin player who’s won four comps. Took Samoa to a WC final.

He’s elite, maybe the games highest paid player now.

The coach was glowing in his praise just this week.

People are just bitter if they can’t see it.

I have no ill will towards him, good luck to him, just don't think he'll be missed.

As for young halves mentoring, Benji should be able to provide that, he was a good half.

not many NRL sides go well without well established halves, certainly not with a questionable forward pack (see Raiders / Sanders this year).

I fail to see how 2027 is not a really hard slog for us.

He raises some good points & plenty of us would agree. However the personal attacks is just gutter talk. It bugs me, I know it shouldn’t but it does. Every single Nrl club other than the Warriors have benefited from taxpayer dollars here in Australia. Whether that be a new Stadium, Centre of Excellence or even $17m in indigenous grants hello Broncos. To single us out is pretty ordinary. Don’t get me wrong our management have made some poor decisions and they need to called out but having a crack at our new Ceo is a shite go. Is he then having a crack that we couldn’t retain Jarome? Hmmm $3m tax free against $1.2m taxable yep what duds we are not to match that. I actually have a pretty thick skin when it comes to the Tigers but that article really peed me off. For god sake boys win some games to shut these muppets up.
Amen brother!

Let's wait and see what's done with his money before judging next season, just pray the injury gods are kinder that destroys any teams chances.

We’ve won 4 games with him this year and 3 without him.
Need to find a half to go with Doueihi.

The perception of the club was the problem pre-Luai.

Paying 500K for your marquee to leave doesn’t exactly improve how prospective players and player agents view the joint.
If you’re basing figures off rumours then you can’t be a very good player manager, you’d think they would make a more formal approach where they would be more accurate

Announcing Samuela and hopefully a couple other signings would spin it positive for the tigers, just like when he announced he was leaving we negated that bad news with some re-signings

You’re missing my point. We get murdered in the press every year, that creates a perception among players, and others in the game (refereeing controversy anyone). Losing only adds to that.

We bring a lot of it on ourselves.

God help us if Samuela Fainu decides to move on.

Luai is gone. The season is gone.
Let's just get on with planning life without Luai.
That means when and where do we play Latu and Andrews. What grade? Please, no Latu at hooker or lock.
Or how long do we persevere with Doueihi at half? Maybe our lock or 14?

He’s the luckiest player ever.
Had he not had the great fortune of being friends with Nathan Cleary, he’d be a bartender by now.

That's sensitive information doubt they would make that public.

If that 500k figure can be believed and half of it came out of cap left over from this year it doesn't look so undesirable.
Steve,
A few people have already explained this so apologies if you have already seen it.

If we pay him 300k out of this years cap and 200k out of next year it’s still 500k impact next year.

Put it this way. Say he stays. We then front load another player an extra 300k this year and reduce their next year by 300k. Next year we would have an extra 300k… we can’t do that now because instead we paid Luai that same 300k.

It sounds like the exit is costing our cap 500k. I’m still pro the exit, but I now admit it’s not an amazing deal like Kades sources partial information made it look.

Kade, love your info, don’t read above wrong way. Keep it coming

What does 700K get you next year Tyrone May for 550K and 150k for ?

I get your point man, the roll-over to next season effect giving us more money to use, suppose it comes down to what shape the cap is in for next year and if it restricts recruitment targets.

Do any of us really know where the cap is at for next season, how much room will be revealed by the quality of the players we add to the top 30, let's hope they're decent.
