Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

2027
- Averillo ✅️

Still need some outside backs.
A backrower, a prop and a utility or two.

My hit list is now:
Wilson De Courcey (Knights)
Kayla's Fatiola (Warriors)
Haizyn Mellare (Warriors)

Be nice if we can get one of the dolphins,
Ray Stone
Kurt Donoghie
JMK - compassionate grounds ( # 13 for us )

Benji needs to start calling in some favours.
Aiming higher than Herbert.

I'm out

We lost 32/0 vs the Bulldogs who we should have made a showing against.

Andrew Webster called us a "practise run" when we vs'd the Warriors last week.

Our side has given up. I have given up. All kudos to the true believers, not knocking you and heck I respect you. Respect to all the fellow posters, this place rocked.
WT fans you rock.

I am signing out of the forum (don't know how long). I won't be back this year and likely for a while.

have fun.
I honestly can't blame you, living up here on the mid north coast I actually take more interest in what the knights are doing now, this club has no future its sad to say, but it's broken a life long balmain supporter

Sounds good TS but Benji has already said that Luai will be picked as long as he’s with the club, so he’s gone but he hasn’t gone, just yet. I think Benji will also persevere with he and AD in the halves for the rest of the season so Latu/ Andrews will just have to be patient.
If he does this it could be grounds for instant dismissal

Getting harder to keep stretching out the Luai story … although I guess the continued insipid weekly performances of the team will always provide that angle …

In Caryannis and Read column today … apparently Luai’s early exit “threatens to have greater repercussions “ in respect of the Chiefs targeting Sam Fainu … you see apprently the Chiefs had a “secret pact “ that out of respect to Luai’s “standing “ that they wouldn’t target Tigers players … im actually quite confused because I’m very sure no such pact was mentioned previously by these 2… in fact it was the opposite that most of the recently re-signed group were going to be following him out the door ..

No mention in the article if PNG are interested in Latu as well , or even if they would entertain Manese to run the water .. they will both likely be left with us ..not sure how the other players families would feel about Manese living at the players compound..

Also no issues for Parramatta apparently with Luai there “recruiting” next season and Ryles is quoted as saying he has no problems
Trojan horse
Dog act

Unfortunately we have become a joke of a club/team.We don’t seem to have players that are willing to take the hard hit ups, can’t remember the last time I actually saw one of our players tackle hard enough to worry any team. And our coach seems to be completely lost on how to fix this.very sad what we have become.
We need to go out to the market and buy hard running players that can bend the line, and players willing to actually tackle hard instead just standing there and trying to hold them. Gee our forwards are so soft at the moment.
And signing our so called up and coming players is not the answer
We bought a couple of em in Hunt and Bunty..but the soon settled into the "family first"culture
Get a real coaching staff

Neither of those clubs are remotely close to our levels of gross incompetence.
What’s the answer, revoke Benji’s control, bring in a coach to oversee and potentially override his decisions and bring in a new recruitment manager against his wishes and start all over again?
It is either do that or stick with Benji, hope he has learnt some more harsh lessons this season and give him the benefit of the doubt for at least the start of next season.

I think we could get by with a backline of:

1 Bula, 2 Makasini 3 May 4 Averillo 5 Turuva......assuming we have structures where they can run with space and opportunity. Then the back ups. The difference between Skelton/Turuva etc and the likes of Tupou/Tavana is not that significant most of the time and I don't think effects whether we win/lose (in most cases). We definitely can't get by another year with anywhere near the forward depth we have though. The difference between KPP to everyone else and May/Pole to everyone else is like 3 levels.

There is only one option. Bring in a highly respected recruitment manager. Bring in 3 highly respected assistant coaches. Bring in a an entirely new high performance team. Remove all members of the 2005 squad.

Benji can stay on so long as he is happy to be helped by qualified professionals. He's done it his way, and failed miserably.

The other option is got Benji to realise he's not a coach and never will be, but that his strengths lie in team building and relationship building and he could be a Director of football, have a Gus Gould type role.

Highly likely Benji walks if we do what you are suggesting.
Don’t forget we had Scott Fulton who delivered us the Fainu brothers and suggested Kaio Weekes among others.
Benji didn’t want him and got what he wanted.

Caryannis and Read - “ who is the million dollar contracted NRL player in discreet talks recently about a possible move to Super League next year ?”

Could be Bula or Terrell ? We would need to eat another $500k a year though most likely ..
Junior Paulo or Jake Trbjoveic

Cooper Clarke looks good , Connolly lemulemu, Ray stone , there is a few around, we just do not keep them.. Christian Tapau Moors looks like he might be a good one,, and Sukkar is coming along nicely
I said in some previous comments that our development from South West produces second tier talent. Your list confirms that.

None of these guys are origin standard.
