He doesn't have a contract for 27 not wanted by Manly they have some good young outside backs coming on

I rate him, he’s been playing well in NSW Cup as a right centre and always does a good job on the wing.
If unwanted by Manly he would be another very good candidate to improve our depth in the outside backs.

They have Cameron Murray and Latrell Mitchell both on 1.1 million and I very much doubt either of them will take anything less anytime soon.
Payne Hass on 1.2 million which I assume might have a ratchet clause.
Tallis Duncan will be getting plenty of offers of 900k, maybe higher, so you would think they will need to pay very close to 900k to retain him.
David Fifita is on a 800k deal and I don’t think he would be too keen to accept anything less.
Brandon Smith is on a 600k deal and I don’t think he will accept anything less.
Campbell Graham is currently on an 800k deal and i don’t think Souths will want to lose him, so they will have to pay somewhere around that figure to retain him.
Jack Wighton currently on a deal around 900k and I think they woukd ideally want to keep him as well. They might be able to retain him for a couple of hundred thousand less per season due to his age.
Jye Gray currently on a deal of around 700k and they don’t consider him as a starting player, so they will likely try and offload him, but I don’t think they will get any takers for that price.

So they will likely be paying over 7 million for their 7 highest paid players in 2028 and that’s the best case scenario if some of those players are accepting less than they could get elsewhere.
That is not including a halfback, 5/8 and possibly another fullback, no decent players in those positions come cheap.
So no idea how they could possibly be in the market for another marquee player in Xavier Willison who will definately be commanding 1 million per season or more from 2028 onwards.

I hope PVL reviewed all these deals to ensure they were market value, as he did with PNG’s offer to Hudson Young.

That’s the reality at this time of year. It’s like scanning a supermarket shelf at the end of the day in the heat of Covid, and all that’s left is couple cans of creamed corn and tinned beetroot.

Its a very tough market, the club is really trying to strengthen roster spots 18 through to 25. Not sure what people expect. Hopefully there is money to make one more 500-600k signing.

Brailey is good experienced back up for Api, massive upgrade on Hope. Can play hybrid lock role as well.

Averillo will be great for us at right centre.

I think we need another decent prop if Hunt and Bunty are leaving. Maybe Aho can fill this and keep developing Tapau-Moors.

We need young guys like Heywood, Latu and Makasini to really come on and become quality NRL players.

Throw KPP and Batman back into the team and it will be a decent starting side.

Cody Walker and Latu would he an exciting halves combo. I would get rid of Douhei.

Club really need to lock up Pole, Samuela and Latu

I rate Skelton a bit higher than most and wouldn’t be disappointed if we keep him, but I would ideally have Saukuru and Tupou as our backup left sided players, Tupou maybe displacing Makasini as our starting left winger, depending on what happens between now and round 1 2027.
I know we already have Herbert as our right centre back up, but I want better than that, so would ideally have any 2 off my previous list as our right sided outside back depth and I think Attard will progress well as our back up fullback.
I think if we went with that plan our backs depth would be significantly better than it was this season.

NRL 360 had averillo at 6 last night…

I’m not sure what they are watching, Averillo is a good centre, good fullback, decent winger, but just an average 5/8 who is ok to use in that position in an injury crisis.

I am a fan of Skeleton and he has only played 36 first grade games a lot of upside

You make some very good points.
I don’t think we can afford to lose Royce and we have to hope he heads into 2027 with the same level of fitness and same positive attitude he brought into the 2026 season.
IF Cody Walker come get for one season and played somewhere close to the form he displayed this season it would be fantastic, but I really can’t imagine Souths not re-signing him for 2927 and I think it would be a real danger he would come here with his heart not really in it and it could end up being yet another train wreck.
I think our best option is to go all in with Latu and as you say hope that he, his brother and Fonua Pole all stick with us beyond the 2027 season.
I know Doueihi is a polarising figure even before his decision not to play against the Raiders, but I think there is a chance we get a very good season out of him in 2027, possibly partnering Latu in the halves or possibly transitioning to a bit of 13 if Javon proves too good to leave out or possibly if Jock Madden makes it too hard to leave him out.

I agree. I was a bit shocked Walters selected him for Roos in the upcoming world cup. Very lucky to make it in my opinion

I would offer Blake Wilson a Train and Trial Fast Tall and solid player could be great for a few fill in games

Didn’t mind him at Dogs. Didn’t see any of him this year. Train & trial deal would be ok.

If the club is genuine, then the only coach id give the N.R.L gig to is the N.R.L.W coach. He turned them around. Id then elevate any coach who led their teams to finals internally.
