I'd still take Bevan French & Junior Nsemba any day of the week and one player to keep an eye on for potential NRL movement is Ellery Hanley's son ... Umyla Hanley.

He has just signed with Black Money agency which is interesting.

Could he hold an ambition to play where his Dad played - Balmain & Wests?

Arguably the best centre in ESL this season but no bigger than Oliver Gildart which would worry me.

Feel like we are better off looking at RMC rather than the Super League when it comes to backs...

Apologies i know its not about signings and hope it hasnt already been posted elsewhere. Very ineresting read about the ammount of players every club has used this season. We topped the count with 35 one more than Melbourne. Considering we only have prob a quality 1 - 20 kind of puts our season into a bit more perspective. Also hopefully club is looking into any contributing factors that can be avoided to prevent injuries. Though we did have one legend who played every game.

Still a chance Newcastle find a way to retain him which is his preference. This WT speculation may just be his agent putting the pressure on the Knights to pull their finger out.

Hopefully we land him but I'd still say 50/50 at this stage.

I haven’t seen much of Umyla Hanley play, but I know the reports are he was a late bloomer that is now at the top of his game and will push strongly for a starting spot for England at the upcoming World Cup.
Bevan French is all class, very Cody Walker like only 5 years younger.
I coukd be wrong, but I think I recall his new contract with Wigan has a get out clause should he receive and accept an NRL offer?
I know we have high hopes for Javon, I do as well, but you coukd not pass on the opportunity to sign Bevan French if it was a possibility.

If he’s gildarts size forget it, that is just way too small to play centre or wing in the nrl these days, small guys can only play in the spine now. Nsemba tho I would like us to get

Whilst the Frizell signing is good for depth, I think it is mainly for the leadership that he brings and we desperately need that, especially in the forwards. I see him as being a replacement leader for Luai, but he will be a much better influence than old Jerome was. Just a shame he is not a bit younger for impact on the field.

Still would love to get Moses Leota if he is pushed out of Penrith for salary cap reasons, but we probably can’t afford him, so the 35 year old it is.

Nsemba is close with KPP. He came out to Australia to visit him either last summer or the summer before.

He's too good to be playing ESL. Another forward worth a look is Isaiah Vagana. Similar build to Joe Tapine. Never really got a sniff at NRL level with the Wahs but has been dominating the UK ever since.

Its worth noting that Vagana's club Wakfield Trinity is in serious financial trouble. They would accept transfer fees on players with open arms. From what I recall - if NRL pay an ESL team a transfer fee it is not included in our salary cap?

That’s not true Newcastle are doing everything they can to keep him, but aren’t able to move on others so far for the roster spot

If we sign Tyson it’s on 350k. Thats
Pretty much depth money and if he can have a positive impact on developing our younger guys I’m happy with it.

That's good news.

I still think giving Hunt 10 mins either side of half-time (20 mins game time) using 1 interchange is the smart play, with a defensive effort workhorse in the middle with him (Seyfarth or Twal, Brailey) to help cover behind the ruck if required.

It is true. There’s an issue with Frizell's current $700k contract and the possibility of losing Bateman, and not being able to bring Barnett back because of it.

Holbrook has acknowledged that there are concerns with Newcastle’s salary cap position.

I'm sure if he took a major pay cut he would be worth signing for $300-$350k for another year. However he is 35.

Frizell isn’t even contracted for next year there’s no need to get “$700k” off the books. No idea where you’ve got that from.

Great in theory, but nothing stops them from leaving once they are ready for NRL.

We should be addressing why they want to leave.

Funnily enough many of over 30s players have been the ones going really well this season. Maybe 35 is the new 25 lol.
