We have a team that can compete when fully fit (easy to forget we were equal first after round 6 this year), but when hit with injuries, we lacked the depth and experience to maintain that standard.
To their credit, the coaching team have explicitly identified that and have gone about addressing it with these signings. All of which replace less experienced, less effective players.
While I don't think any of them (barring Averillo) change our starting 13, they each provide experience off the bench and can step in and do a job with more confidence than we had this year. That could be the difference.
Frizell will be worth his price on field and off. And Averillo is not just an upgrade at right centre, he's also a better first drop at fullback than what we had. Brailey is solid cover for Api and Mann for Twal. And the word is we haven't had too overpay for any of them.
The big question mark for 2027 is our halves, but it seems we're implementing a more robust structure around them, so who knows.
