Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Listening to Cronk this morning leads me to believe he will retire at seasons end. Is influence would have been a nice bonus but oh well

Personally I'd go for a few solid signings now then pick the eyes out of the juniors of other clubs. There are lots of footballers like Dylan Edwards who are ready for FG and you can make enquiries at their current club, esp now the salary cap is set for 2018, pick up good young kids who would have a clearer path to FG at Tigers because the existing club is already stocked.

Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad,Billy Walters,LACHLAN CROKER and Jaydn Sua are few good kids that will be good for tigers.

Storm having a crack at Ava Seumanufagai..If he's smart it will be Seulaterweststigersgoodbye..

I don't think we would be too worried he hasn't exactly set the world on fire. If we bring in Matulino and Packer means we have to choose to keep either Ava or Grant as a number 4 bench prop and even then they are competing with Felise and Tatola coing through

Enjoy Melbourne Ava bye bye! Can do better one thinks .

Pretty harsh… He's been good all season and easily our second best prop.

Ava is a must keep. Watch him hit new highs once Woods departs.

Unfortunately the club should have read the signs better.
Strike much earlier and signed a few good players before this broke in papers.
It's going to be really hard from this point on.
We will need to manage our expectations, be patient and stay loyal…. and it may not be possible no matter how good a coach we have.

People on wests magpies side of the ledger have been through this sort of thing before and never recovered since coach Masters era in the 80s.

You never know miracles do happen but some of the wish lists on here are just that I suppose.

I agree. We should definitely re-sign him. Very underrated player in my opinion.

Options:
Release woods to get Brad Abbey
Release Teddy for maybe Joseph Manu/Conner Watson
Release Moses for maybe Vave/Matagi

Thoughts or am I just thinking rubbish??

Those that are happy to get rid of Ave have got to be kidding - best third rotation prop we will get for 2018.

I don't care if Gordon is 39 - he is a good full back and an excellent goal kicker (at the moment). A one year deal would get us over a difficulty. We do not have a goal kicker and with the names bandied around we won't have one.

It is not going to be easy to fill the vacant spots. A few we have will leave as well before they are pushed, making it a bit harder.

The problem with Cronk is he said he is waiting until after SOO to decide.
Leave it that long and he says no then we are completely gone.

Nothing to worry about.
According to KIIS FM Cronk and Graham will both be Tigers in 2018.

What a crock of s…peculation!

We wouldn't want that. If we replace them with quality we might not be able to bash the club anymore

You just never know, we may just get these 2 on the cheap which would be unheard of. Graham is on a big backended deal of (reportably) 1mil next year. **If we can get the dogs to pay 300k we get him for 700k.** Great buy.

Cronk is fast running out of options with Sydney clubs, so if he wants to play on he won't command the million dollars he normally would. Its not impossible to pick up Cronk for less than what we were going to pay Moses and Garham for less than what we were going to pay Woods.

Im still skeptical about Cronk though as i dont think he's playing well. However apparently he played very well last week.

Getting these 2 would change our culture in an instant.

Realistically, we should be getting them to pay at least half of the contract if they want us to take him off their hands.

I agree that Gordon should be considered. People will say that it is not planning for the future, but we could get a solid couple of years out of him and bring through some real junior talent in the meantime. I agree that this will cover our goal kicking issues also.

As for the club waiting too long to poach other players, we did have $2 million plus on the table to try and resign Teddy and Woods. The entire point of the deadline was to ensure that we could enter the market whilst quality was still available.

Todd Carney.

X2

He's my first choice signing but apparently the NRL have refused to register him. Surely with the situation we are in the Tigers could mount a decent case to get him back into the game. He would be ideal pick up at a reasonable price.

The NRL will register domestic violence offenders
The NRL will register drug dealers
The NRL will register assault offenders
The NRL will register MATT BLOODY LODGE

The NRL won't register a guy who pisses in his own mouth? That'll do me

Its just more confirmation the game is run as poor as any professional sport in the world.

Yes because was the only thing Carney did wrong :unamused: Oh thats right it wasn't. It was only his 76th offence, not to mention the things the clubs covered up. I suspect if you ask a few Canberra board members, they would tell you a few stories.
