Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Surely we don't lose Ava? We'd have more money than the Sharks, the bloke has been starting and consistently one of our best. Hard to believe we'd let him go. Not fussed on Packer, there's better blokes running around (Ava included).

Hard to believe ?
This club has made some real rookie mistakes and let players go who have excelled elsewhere

Marty Tapau - letting him go was plain dumb
Blake Austin - well he went looking for better opportunities
JAC ?
Korobete ?
TMM ?

Rod Griffin ?

Will not surprise me a little bit them letting Ava go
He makes more impact than Grant and he tries harder IMO

Taupau left for money, Austin you've covered for an opportunity. JAC and Koro were likely victims of coach's preference and perceived fit for the team (defence), and TMM was graciously released because we had Moses ahead of him. Griffin hadn't seen NRL when he came to us (or very little) and still hasn't since. Ava is our starting prop and matches if not out-performs his Origin counterpart most weeks, he's got no reason to leave for an opportunity, our money should be better, the only possible sticking point would be contract length.

Seumanufagai is off contract so if he signs elsewhere it wont be letting him go unless we want to pay overs to retain him ..

Has a competitive 2 year offer on the table but as we have seen you can;t force players to sign them…

He's a pretty passionate guy for our Club..I reckon he'll stay..

I said this all along. We should be chasing Vete, matulinos best mate

Tigers are. Have offered him a contract. Looks like Titans are gonna get him though

Any other props worth chasing if we happen to miss out on Packer too?

There's not massive quality on the market at this point but I've been told that dogs (obviously) panthers and roosters are gonna be under the pump cap wise with it not being 10 mil so might get some there with teams looking for cap relief. I'd still look at pulu, paasi, ofahengaui, stockwell, kafusi and masoe as potential bench forwards and depth signing

I like that list. If we could snag a couple of them that would be pretty good.. thoughts on matagi ,vave or alvaro in swap deal for moses?

Mataulino named in final 17 for warriors, so I will watch with interest, he is coming off the bench

Not signing widdop is looking pretty good now he has done his knee!! Who has the good word? TMM? Tui? Any news on potential signings?

They said it was a medial ligament on the early diagnosis, so he should be out for ~6 weeks max. Nothing like doing an ACL or PCL.

Been reported on the Dragons forum that Packer is very keen to stay at the Dragons and is going to sign an extension on Wednesday.

If this is true we are once again going to be shorts on Props.

We are signing Matulino to replace Woods which leaves us with Grant Ava and Jesse Sue.

Ava is reportedly on his way to the Sharks, Grant getting the boot and Jess Sue I imagine would be re-signed.

That however leaves us back in the same position we have been in for years, not enough forward strength. !.

Hope that Cleary can pull a couple of tough props who can bend the line otherwise our rebuild will be for nought !.

good news if we miss out on packer it would be hard to support the side with that criminal in the side
