These amounts are not overs these 2 are experienced NRL players this is what they get these days.

Just assume that you cannot trust the figures being bandied about. Very often the numbers come from player agents to talk up their own business or the profile of their player. E.g. if you tell the media Matulino is on $700K, it look good for the player manager and next time around they can try to make that the platform for Matulino's next negotiations.

If you added up all the reported figures for all the signings by different clubs, most clubs would be blowing their salary cap out of the water.

Yes it seems that way Geo,however if we do get all the players we are apparently seeking,will we have a better squad to make a challenge for the finals next year ????? Or will it end up a plodderthon …???

I agree. The 'war chest' will fill up very quickly if we keep doing this. Way too much for Reynolds. 550 would have surpassed the Bulldogs contract and they probably want to offload him anyway.

Apparantly the media figures are inflated. Reality has Matulino signed for much less…..apparantly.

Often the media figures include TPA …..

Ben Hunt to the Dragons was a great example, he isn't on $1M a season cap allocated but media beat it up that way.

I thought is was much less than $700k as well. I don't think any prop is worth that amount of money.

SG sounds right I heard it was 450k p.a. Last week.

It's got nothing to do with the money coming out of our pockets. It's got everything to do with building a quality team. We are paying Robbie something like $700k this season. That screws us over.

We've struggled with players being let go that we should have kept because we have been paying players more than what they are worth.

All I think most fans care about is winning games. If you pay some guy too much and it stops you retaining a player or recruiting a player then that guy who is costing you too much loses you games.

Look at it this way - we were offering $1.2M to Tedesco, $900K to Woods, $850K to Moses and paying Farah $750K.

The salary cap has also been increased.

Interesting that Ava is being touted to the Sharks.

Have been thinking that it is all very well chasing the new soon to be stars of the team but you still need the nuts and bolts.

I can see why you tie up to few first but pick the eyes out of the rest soon.

Been reported on the Dragons forum that Packer is very keen to stay at the Dragons and is going to sign an extension on Wednesday.

If this is true we are once again going to be shorts on Props.

We are signing Matulino to replace Woods which leaves us with Grant Ava and Jesse Sue.

Ava is reportedly on his way to the Sharks, Grant getting the boot and Jess Sue I imagine would be re-signed.

That however leaves us back in the same position we have been in for years, not enough forward strength. !.

Hope that Cleary can pull a couple of tough props who can bend the line otherwise our rebuild will be for nought !.
