Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Unless we can get an awesome bargain with the current cap drama, I think it could be a smart move to fill up the remainder of the roster with minimum salary future potentials.
Then front load our longer term players with what is left of the cap.

The question marks still hanging over our most crucial positions are a worry.
And though I love the idea of signing more solid depth or starters for next year, realistically, even if we signed a star I feel we are still just pushing for a top 8 spot.

However, if after a year we find out which of the crucial questions have been answered either positively or not we can then use the cap space we will have to target players to cover those positions if needed.
Especially if there are potential gems coming off contract in a year.

A year then allows the spine to gel and hopefully convince us they are the answer.
That also then gives a full year & two off seasons for Twal, Hooth, Suli, Marsters etc to gain experience and growth.

We then sign any missing piece and push for a premiership in 2019.

Simple.

I also read that we are also keen on Tyrone Roberts from Titans, because he can also cover the halves and fullback

Hopefully not to cover centre.

Looking good for the Titans again tonight. Shows plenty of natural talent. However, I think Benji has taken the spot we were considering for Roberts.

Never rated TR…out of the 2 I prefer Bunji

I know some of the forum members have done their own calculations regarding how much of the cap we have used up next year but dead set we must still have around $2m available to spend I would think.

Might be a little on the high side but surely we could grab a superstar or two if they became available.

Assuming that the "6 development list players" don't come under the cap, and it does depend on if we re-sign Idris, Naiqama, and if Grant stays, and if ET and Eiso re-sign, but considering all that…

I say yes, even if we re-sign all those guys I just mentioned, we still have about $700k to spend on a high quality player.

I'd be offering Woods 600k to stay

What's everyone's thoughts on that young Roosters wingers?

Bernard Lewis, watched him closely and I see a lot of JAC! Killed it in the Auckland 9's and with the backline the Roosters have I don't see him making it, also Johnny Tuivasa-Sheck looks the goods and I can't see him cracking in the team.

Both exceptional talents that wouldn't break the bank, I'd prefer Bernard Lewis as I think he's a weapon, but I wouldn't complain if we got RTS brother he also has talent.

Thoughts?
