Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Grant would have to be close to the end of his playing career seems to have been around for ages. If he has an opportunity to play 1st grade he should take it but we shouldn’t just let him go for the sake of it.

He's only 30\. Prime age for a front rower.

I certainly can't see him getting any better. He is way down the pecking order and we still have Felise there if we do have several injuries. Ross may be average but he plays in positions we could do with extra coverage in. So a swap wouldn't be a bad outcome for us as long as it was a shortish contract.

Not a fan of Ross but if we get him cheap then he's a handy backup. Don't get why he would want to come here though, he's playing FG at the Knights, he won't be playing FG here.

Should have another crack at Corey Harawira-Naera hes not starting at the moment and Penrith have a few blokes injured mite be in Reggies by the end of the year

Latimore s playing well for the Dragons. He is an "IC player". What is a light rumour?

This whisperer bloke can’t be more than 10 years old, he can hardly spell and has only 13 tweets to his name, even the Russians do a better job.

I wouldn’t let Grant go, he’s a big part of our front row depth and we’ll need him as the grind takes its toll on our troops later in the season.
We have 3 positions to acquire, we don’t need to swap or release.
Grant has the height and physique to be valuable as the season rolls on.

CHN started yesterday & played 80 mins

Doesn't make sense for Newcastle to release Ross given their limited back depth. He is arguably their best outside back (ahead of SKD, Mata'utia and Sio) with Moga out for the season. After that it's Cory Denniss maybe? Grim. If they were to release Ross they'd have to be replacing him with a better outside back surely.

Why does Newcastle want to offer him up?
If he ain't getting along, do we want him? Only if he has a massive conflict with say Mitch Pearce, i.e. only with a specific player should we think about it.

With Reynolds, Tui and Founa and potentially Gamble being able to fit on the back line…... Not that interested in Ross.

Nathan Ross would walk straight in. Similar to what Ivan said about Corey Thompson, he embodies what we're trying to do here. Covers all 3 positions in the backline, we could certainly do worse.

I wouldn't - it wouldn't be good for team morale.

I mean it's one thing for a guy like Nofoaluma to bust his way into first grade at the expense of Lolohea - Nofa busted his ass off all off-season, showed he was a class above ISP and has been around the club for years. Plus Lolohea hasn't been good at all.

With the Ross situation, you're bringing in an outsider who would take the spot of someone who's been performing well enough. It can cause tension among the playing group. Ross is an upgrade over Watene-Zelezniak, but is he enough of an upgrade to justify breaking up a winning formula? I don't think so. If it was Fonua in reserves on an absolute tear, making no errors, 200m+ a week and scoring multiple tries - yeah sure, he's forced his way in. Doing it with an outsider though? Risky.

Theres a rumour going around that Esan Marsters has resigned for 2 more years, can anyone confirm or deny?? probably a hoax tho….

Fox sports reporting the re-signing of Marsters https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/private-ryan-cowboys-half-pick-of-generation-next-young-broncos-half-pushes-his-case/news-story/56d0af484da281211e26e50a0a95271f but haven't seen it confirmed on the WT site.

Ross has been making some bad errors hes not an upgrade

I can’t believe anyone would see Ross as an upgrade…. our wingers aren’t champions, but they’re doing their jobs.
Ross is an average player at best.
