I've notice that a lot of people have Momirovski in their 2019 lineups over Mahe Fonua. Mahe Fonua has proved he's a beast and he was good for his first 6 games or so with us until he got injured, he came back after his injury at the end of the season and that's where his form dropped because he just came back from a broken arm. Momirvoski hasn't really proved himself, he played 2 games for the Roosters this year and scored 2 tries because both of them were easy tries which showed no class or skill whatsoever. So I wouldn't put Fonua out of it, hell maybe if we do sign Walker, Fonua will go back to the wing dropping Thompson or Nofoaluma. Thompson is average and I know this will offend a lot of people but he hasn't shown much skill apart from being a reliable fullback, and even then I got a bit scared when he let the ball bounce all the time. He hasn't shown much skill, speed, or finishing ability on the wing, heck a few tries he didn't score there a few times I thought any other winger in the NRL could of scored that.

Something is brewing.

Once again i think we are caught in a complicated recruitment issue. Id say it revolves around Brooks as he is the key component. We could have asked Johnson to demand an answer from the Warriors today as they are weighing up the relative value of Brooks on big money or just giving that money to Johnson. We could also be trying to work out a Reynolds back the dogs trade. Or a McQueen, Rochow, Taylor issue.

It really is anyone's guess but i have a feeling something big will drop pretty soon.

Be careful, some may think you want it all!!

We need a marquee centre. Dylan Walker? No let’s get Momirovski.
We need a marquee prop. Klemmer? No let’s get Clark (with a silent e) and Musgrove.

I’ll be the first to put my hand up if I’m wrong but gee I’d like us to recruit one, just one, outstanding footballer.

Im with you. One, just one.

Lmao Clark (with a silent e)

100% with what u said, we always seem to get the cheap model, yet we have heaps in our cap, so we have been told. its fun that every other club can get players that are still under contact, yet we still buy at target. and yes i know we got mybe and musgrove, both were still contracted. but we dont get what we need a clas nrl centre and a clqass nrl forward.

THE DYLAN WALKER RUMOUR DEBUNKED

Here’s the latest on the transfer front, with rumour flying left right and centre.

Hottest rumour doing the rounds is that Dylan Walker is leaving Manly to join the Tigers - but I’m hearing that’s a dud.

Walker is on too much money at Manly for the Tigers to afford him - and he also left Souths a few years back after not seeing eye to eye with incoming Tigers coach Michael Maguire.
https://wwos.nine.com.au/nrl/nrl-the-mole-michael-lichaa-on-outer-at-bulldogs/b6b51c24-8528-483d-ab43-0f55522da5ed

Who's to say we can't afford him? How do they know how much we have left in our salary cap? I thought Manly were the ones with salary cap issues so maybe they have to offload him to another team that can afford him so they can make space in their salary cap, and that team could be the Tigers. Just because he's on a lot of money there doesn't mean he won't leave, if anything if he's on a lot of money at Manly that just makes the rumour more possible as we all know Manly have salary cap problems. Who's to say the Tigers won't offer Walker a deal near what he's getting paid at Manly?

Sorry Joel i think you are way off the mark.

Momirovski was trusted by multiple premiership winning coach and handled the pressure of finals football when called upon. Would Robinson pick Fonua over Momirovski?. Absolutely not, he wouldnt even have him in his squad. Simple reason is yes he is explosive but at the end of the day he unreliable. Momirovski has already proven himself to be reliable and looks a fine prospect.

As for Cory Thompson not having any finishing ability on the wing. Im at a loss?. You must be watching through very different eyes. He is one of the best finishers in the game.

Just my opinion of course.

Johnson would not ask for an immediate release if he did not have somewhere to go …no sense in that monetary or career!

We must be paying overs for some players in our team if we cant afford a player like Walker. I'd love to know how other teams e.g. Panthers, Roosters and Broncos manage their cap. Even Newcastle are starting to build a solid team and I cant help but feel we will be left behind yet again.

Who said we can't afford Walker ? I'd be amazed if that was the case. It's more likely that the club don't see him as a value for money proposition. If so, then not paying overs is smart business on the club's part.

Smart business only if you have a top flight centre with genuine pace, size and defence as another option eg WIghton.

I just cant understand where our $$ have gone…we only ever buy ISP players or reserves for 1st grade..and the only one worth keeping(Drinkwater)we let go.....even Farah and Benji were playing ISP when we picked them up..
..we shld be able to afford virtually any player that comes onto the market if we need them. And given we now have close to the weakest roster in the NRL....WE need them!
.. only one space left..maybe we throw a $mill at Cameron Smith(only kidding!)

Fair dinkum .. if the WestsTigers don't make a play at him, then our recruitment team has gone bonkers .. !! At this stage they have in the run for him:

Cronulla - all ready in cap problems and will be in deeper once the NRL hit them with a cap penalty.
Canberra - I live here why would he want to come here .. !!
Parramatta - wooden spoons contenders for next season.
Canterbury-Bankstown - they want Reynolds back.
Cowboys - wow really .. !!
Roosters - com'on surely they can't fit him in the sombrero .. !!

Johnson to 5/8 with Brooks at 7 .. wow damaging .. !!

Hmmmm

Any analysis that looks only at the starting pack is a stupid analysis but yeah, we do lack a game breaker in our pack.

Hmmmm

Wow… Our forward pack ranked 15th, and frankly I agree with them.

Yet, some here think we're asking for too much when we urge the board to sign some decent forwards and backs. Guess we should just stick to mediocrity and be happy with Musgrove.

Yeah I'd imagine his manager has already been in talks with some clubs who have indicated they're only interested if he's going to start in 2019, so his manager wants flexibility in the negotiations.

Not sure I agree Paws. Paying overs is not a good long-term business plan. I think getting value for money is the smart way to go.

Wow the Dogs want Marshall-king as Hooker?

I thought we had Hooker problems.

Cronulla is chasing Alex Johnson just as a salary cap probe is about to hit…. Life is good

I'd love that as our halves combo but where has that been reported, or is it just speculation?

Who cares what people rank anything? And by people I mean MARK ST JOHN AND JOE MCDONOUGH from Fox Sports, who I don't even know who they are.

It's like the tipsters telling you the Top 8 and they are 50% wrong, same as guessing, every year.

Anyways they have the Cowboys as the best pack in the comp, which is great, certainly helped them barely avoid the wooden spoon in 2018.

What I do know is I think Dylan Walker is custard and am quite happy to hear any noise that we won't sign him. You watch the market, you wait and you buy the best possible candidate, you don't go for every T,D&H who is off contract.

Let the Knights have Klemmer for a bazillion dollars; they bought big with Ponga and Pearce last year too and it didn't get them anywhere in the run to the finals.

Dont worry, we are building for a finals appearance in 2020.

Patience they say :brick:

This forward pack dominated the Storm and Roosters last year. We have improved with Musgrove and Matters on.

What decent backs/forwards are you talking about? Their is no one of worth off contract. If the salary cap hits a few teams then we can get a good player on decent coin.
