Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

All I know is all this talk of Widdop and Shaun J will have a inflationary effect on Brook's next contract. Its the old supply and demand and uncertainty in the market place. I am hoping he has already signed and the announcement is being held off in order to have some big news in December when people are spending up for Christmas.

Heard the same thing when Madge was in England. "Its being held off till Madge gets back". I don't buy the fact the club would hold off announcements for Xmas. If there is no announcement, its because they haven't come to an agreement yet.

So Johnson to halves, Moylan to FB?

I'd say so, CB. SJ and Townsend link up in the halves again.

If true It's good to see the team full of rep players already and caught cheating the salary cap get another rep player..
Yet we cannot get a rep player … :crazy

Well maybe we should be questioning our management and new coach….our forward pack got beat up in numerous games this year.....yet an club like the Bulldogs with apparent cap problems can secure harawera and nappa.....unfortunately were an amature organization

Got a link to that thread Gal?
Haven't seen it but I'm not surprised…. Poor guys a bit of a loser... Feel a bit sorry for him.... Lol

The LOL@WestsTigers thread started by his sockpuppet has turned into another LOL@Souffs thread.

We should just start doing paper bag deals.
What’s the worse that happens?
We get caught once in a blue moon and get a slap on the wrist.
If the sharks escape without severe punishment then the precedent is set in my mind.
We should do the same and get some big game players to concord.
I don’t like cheating but if playing by the rules means we fall behind, than I’m all for the paper bag contracts.

They lost Klemmer and Mbye. I don't think that you can state that Canterbury are looking like a better run club than we are.

We've improved our pack a fair bit by signing Matterson and Musgrove.

We really just need a quality left centre but we do have Fonua and Momirovski to fill that role.

No, a club like Wests will get fined $5m, stripped of 26 points for the following three seasons and wear a $2m cap penalty for five years.

Agree ….. Napa is an downgrade and possibly on quite a few extra dollars (than what Klemmer was on) from what I understand.

It's nice to be loved by the NRL.

All this talk around Shaun J should not be an issue with us UNLESS Brooks moves on and I'm pretty sure that he will stay. We are well and truly OK as far as halves are concerned. We have some good development players which may work out long term.
Our forwards are OK ….. if (next season) they improve anywhere near +25% we will improve our position on the ladder. And tha6t should not be hard with Madge in charge and with over 12 months together. The depth is good.
I feel the Missing link to our success is down to centre/wing ..... we need depth and experience and I believe the club are on the way in filling that gap.

Yeah it's a ridiculous comment really. We didn't get Harawira-Naera we signed someone better in Matterson, how amateurish. And yeah they signed Napa (who is an overpriced dud)…because they managed to lose the best go-forward prop in the game in Klemmer. Clearly we're amateurs and the Dogs are all over us :unamused:

NRL.com now saying Widdop will probably be released end of 2019 to go back to ESL, which does not fit with SJ's immediate release. Does look more and more like Sharks.

Iam sure your right, but you never know..Although I get the feeling the club would get any positive news out into cyber land ASAP

Mate a coach would be over the moon if he could get a elite athlete or footballer to improve by 5%, anything above 10% you would be looking for a stash of steroids. I am sure Madge will do a great job and our two forward signings will make a difference..but we have a lot of ground to make up

Word going round now is that he's only looking for a one year deal for 2019 because he's already committed to a club for 2020\. If that's the case his 2020 club obviously has a halfback for 2019, and the situation at the Warriors was too toxic to see out 2019\. Wonder if he and Kearney had a falling out.

There's a possibility that this whole Shaun Johnson / Gareth Widdop saga could play out badly for WT. Warriors will be looking for a half for 2019 and beyond. If Brooks hasn't signed with WT he could receive a late offer from them. What half wouldn't enjoy playing behind a pack like they have and I'd imagine the Warriors could top our offer quite handsomely.
I get it that Luke is a loyal young man, a move to NZ is a big move and it's possible that he has already signed an extension with us but it's still a possibility. Although Luke is tied to us for 2019 we know early releases occur more and more these days.
I hope I'm wrong and that Luke is already tied to us for the long term but things are getting a little crazy with player movements at the moment and nothing it seems is beyond the realms of possibility.
