Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Hodgo has been a massive disappointment. From the last two years he doesn't appear to be a coach. His teams have struggled and looked disorganised and the fact he buggers off to France every chance he gets suggests he's not fully committed here.
Either his family moves back to Sydney and he gives this a real crack or he disappears at the end of the season and moves back to France...

Sometimes the truth hurts.

Hodgson.

All of us love him but he might not be the coach we need to bring the next wave through.

I said this months ago, the team has not progressed one bit, time to get a new coach

Yep i was critical but silent given i like the bloke.

i havent seen enough from this squad.

@The_Patriot I’ll agree also. We can only speculate sadly, it’s probably dramas in his personal life by the sounds of things, either we must unlock the potential there!

@balmain-boy 😂😂😂 Yeah right, he shouldn't see his family because he has reserve grade football to worry about.

Looks like we’re going to go hard for Brimson. He’d be a good signing, but are we ever going to stop chasing players for our spine? Mbye, DWZ, Brimson etc

The Wests Tigers have discussed making a play for David Furner as an assistant coach, who has returned to Australia after a disappointing stint in the UK Super League.

It suggests a potential overhaul of Michael Maguire's coaching staff in 2020.

**Cant be easy for Hodgo to travel to France to see his wife and kids.**Not to say this will happen or Hodgo is even thinking of leaving but it would make sense.

Why is his wife and kids in France?
Did he meet her whilst playing over there.

She is Aussie.

It's a very unusual situation for a family of Aussies to be on other sides of the world for several years. Why wouldn't she move back to Australia with him? If she was French and had her parents there to help with the kids or would be more understandable but this situation is bizarre and appears to be impacting him.

Regardless his teams haven't look well structured with solid game plans. We can't just give out jobs for the boys unless they can do the jobs. Maybe coaching isn't his thing. Maybe he'd be a better fitness coach, talent scout, or in the head office. There's other ways he could be involved. Or go enjoy France, it's a great country. Maybe get a gig at Catalans

@balmain-boy I agree that the teams performance has been disappointing and from what I've seen they play a predictable, poorly structured style. Jobs for the boys should never be a policy, formal or informal.

It's interesting that so many people are disappointed in Hodgo. Like you say, perhaps he just needs to find his niche.

I think in some ways it's a positive that we don't hear constant speculation about this player and that any more from the club. That's our job in here
DWZ and then Tim Mannah being discussed in public and then not (thankfully) materialising wasn't at all a professional look
I'm sure there's plenty of activity behind the scenes and look forward to seeing the announcements when they're fully locked in

DWZ would have been a good signing, he has speed and brings the ball back hard, we would be a better team with him at 1

Thommo has speed and brings it back pretty well too. And with his switch, our centre is better, and Momos getting better each game on the wing now. So things are looking up.

Didn’t Tim Sheens wife and family stay put on Magnetic Island for the ten years he coached us?
(Who could blame them?)
