@weststigers are you joking he served ZERO prison time it was overturned because he did a 20 week course and left rugby league

That's correct...I was reading an old article when he'd just been sentenced. My mistake.

@GNR4LIFE Of course he would but it doesn't help us with attracting players and not just LM.

Look at it objectively. Can you blame them if that's what they are saying? He's just won two premierships and could potentially be moving to a club who've not played finals in a decade. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to sign him, he'd be the shot in the arm this club needs on many levels. But when you look at it objectively, him considering us is absurd. Kind of like being married to Miranda Kerr and leaving her for Susan Boyle. The only person its going to benefit is Susan Boyle. Our club is Susan Boyle.

At least we'll sing in tune after our wins

Who did we sign - Boyle?🤪

just doing due diligence on her as we don't want to rush into an expensive signing 😉

The last few pages have pretty much done me in this forum. I literally know what he did. I literally saw what it did to a family. I watched how long it took an amazing young woman to put her life back together. I know about the amount of physical attacks. I know that above that there was the isolation from family and friends, the emotional disintegration of self confidence and belief. I know about then years of abuse. This 4 times bullshit is a joke he is a predator. He agreed to quit rugby league as it was his lawyers way of getting him further out of the spotlight and out of a jail term yet here he is.
I just pray that those that think he has done his time etc dont have female children.

Anyway on that note im done here

I thought it was you @hodgo that had personal knowledge, but didn't reference you as I was unsure.

Don't disappear, as your viewpoint on this matter needs to be voiced whenever possible.

you white knights need to tone it down.
you know domestic violence is even yelling at your partner during an argument?

"He was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment with a non-parole period of nine months after previously pleading guilty to eight charges, including two counts each of common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Magistrate Ian Cheetham detailed the attacks, including instances of grabbing the victim’s singlet around her neck and throwing her across a room, punching, kicking and verbal abuse.

Tetevano smashed the victim’s phone, damaged her car and smashed other objects."

Take a look at yourself, mate.

I read the same kinds of posts when we were linked to Packer, who nearly killed a man. Funny how once a player wears the jersey, the perception changes.

@GNR4LIFE packer was a bad signing for the same reason imo. i tried over the years to objectify him to just the player and tbh it makes me more concerned about my descisions upon refelction. I guess when its close to home and you see the impact and effect these things cause you have a new overarching view.

PAcker, however, did get punished and has been rehabilitated (not that that's ok) but zane did a 20-hour course and some community service mate that was his punishment for destroying a family and a young future leader in our community and to top that off the toxic rugby league culture was part of his defence. and yet here he is making hundreds of thousadns of dollars off it.

Anyway im done arguing about it basically, just pray you dont have family that end up in this situation

Neither are ok

as much as I despise bullies and "men" who abuse women, there's a side of me who says everyone deserves a second chance once justice has been served, a-la Packer.....but just my opinion and as funny as it may seem, not everyone has to agree with me.

I will be extremely disappointed if the club signs him and will definitely not be renewing our memberships if they do. Packer attacked that person once, horribly of course, but not repeatedly and in a home environment where all should be safe. I will never cheer him as part of my team if signed and will let the club know as well.

@supercoach This needs to be discussed and I suggest you see the post from @2041 above as to why.

I wasn't totally happy when we signed Packer. But he was convicted of a really nasty crime, served his time and appears to have made massive efforts to turn his life around during an extended period out of the game. He gives every appearance of being a poster child for what rehabilitative justice and giving people a second chance should represent.

In Tetevano's case for multiple domestic violence offences, his lawyer told the judge that his client had left the "toxic environment" of the NRL as part of a successful appeal against a custodial sentence. Less than two years' later, having served no jail time, Tetevano signed for the Sydney Roosters.

I'm all for second chances. But Tetevano told the court he needed to be out of the NRL to curb his apparently uncontrollable impulses regarding violence towards women. He should have his second chance in an alternative career.

Wasn’t there a bit of talk we’d signed or we’re about to sign a really good young backrower named Joshua Schuster?

Just read an article online which said that T-Rex and Schuster were originally named in Manly’s top 30 for next year, but we’re removed around the same time as the Fainu incident. Not sure why and the article didn’t really clarify it.

He’s been touted as a really good prospect so looks like we’ve missed out on him.

Not really, Packers crime was horrible but it was a once off and he spent time in prison. Some people on here still despise him as a human (I sure do).

Tetevano should be in prison. If we sign him I will find it very hard to support this club moving forward.

Please stay on topic and get back to discussing domestic violence issues
