Oh man, are you telling me there’s a chance his contract could be torn up, freeing up another 750k a year.

I would genuinely hate for that to happen for JR's sake and he does seem a good bloke, but if Im honest the thought crossed my mind and I smiled.

If any such thing happened and we did have extra funds within cap I'd pay out McQueen or Packer and use the remaining funds to get a young up and comer.

Why ? The forwards , especially the front row has no leader ! Just sit in Packer . He had a bad year . He was good last year and the years before .
McQueen’s in his last year so , who cares . How much are you gonna save 150k maybe ? How’s that worth it ?

Packer is on his last chance- if injured fair enough, if sulking- p*** him off. Send signal WT is not a retirement home. Yes, payout would have to be negotiated (also with McQueen too) but we would have some ground for reduced payout if proven he is sulking. McQueen has openly had an offer tabled from ESL for this season onwards- hopefully he can take up the offer and see a few more years out in England. I;m pretty sure no NRL club will offer new contract for him.

Perception- we wonder why big name players and managers regard WT as not a serious club. Bad player performance and attitude not acceptable in the big boy clubs.. Those guys are rapidly weeded out elsewhere- contract or no contract.

Has anyone heard what Reynolds did to get stood down from training and go visit the integrity unit with his manager and Pascoe?

Wharever it is im assuming it must be some sort of ongoing investigation for the nrl to keep its own media department in the dark. Hope he has the evidence they need to hammer Parra for soliciting Matterson to break contract early. I doubt it but we can dream.

Wouldn't that be nice..............

I hope J Rey hasn't made a mistake as I really like him as a team player. But if he has and has jeprodised his contract then thats on him... Being on his money and playing in the nrl there are certain expectations as how you should behave.. If he is in the wrong then he needs to face the consequences.

?? You’re already paying him though ! Lol Some of you guys just live in fairy land . Treat it like it’s fantasy football.
There’s no middle leader at the moment . And there’s no way to get anything close to value by moving him on . The only way is to retain his services and hope the rocket has been put up him .

Wasn't he the one with brooksy who got caught in a raid in a strip club? Maybe he found himself in some trouble in a foreign establishment while on holidays but somewhere low profile enough to not get caught by the media?

Seriously
People complain when Players they want to break a contract yet it doesn’t seem to be a problem to them when they want to get rid of a player. All Players and teams should honour contracts eg Matterson should have, unless by mutual agreement eg Marsters

Though I have never looked at them, am also thinking that these fantasy competitions may affect how some view managing squads in the game.

I think they were conceived and created to distract fans from the fact that the NRL is a lopsided competition, so that fans of 'lesser' teams can feel some level of control and success throughout the season.

**Tim Simona makes move to France as he continues to seek NRL contract**

Disgraced Wests Tigers player Tim Simona has left Australia to sign with French rugby league club Lezignan with a view to returning to the NRL.

Simona hopes the move will help him land a contract in the European Super League or even back on home soil in the NRL.
The 28-year-old was banned from rugby league over a betting scandal in 2017, but began to make his comeback bid when he was signed by NSW Cup side Blacktown – the feeder club for Manly – earlier this year.

That was with a view to returning to the NRL, possibly with the Sea Eagles, but the game’s governing body did not register his contract owing to his troubled past.

Now Simona has opted to move to France.

“This is a great opportunity for the club, his high level experience will be beneficial for the entire team. He is a fabulous player, very spectacular who will bring the world to the stadium I hope,” said club chairman Alain Fabre.
Simona meanwhile said he wanted to overcome the past two years and knuckle down with the aim of playing at the elite level once again.

“I want to get back on my feet and prove that I can still play in NRL or Super League,” he said.

“The past two years have been the hardest of my life.

“I appreciate the invaluable lessons I have learnt, of which there have been many.”

Lezignan are currently fifth on the French Elite One ladder.

Other former NRL stars currently plying their trade in the competition are ex-Shark Ben Pomeroy (Palau) and former Warriors and Wests Tigers hooker Pita Godinet (Villeneuve).
