Johnson was only 22 when Madge left Souths - Madge gave him his debut and he played 81 games for 73 tries under Madge at Souths. Anyone who think we have a winger of that ability to score points in our current team is kidding themselves. At fullback his record says he scores tries, sets them, breaks the lines, breaks tackles. Has he excelled yet not consistently but he is as I said only 24 and prob didn't excel as much under the last 2 coaches as he did under Madge

I don’t get the hate for AJ, he might not be an out and out game breaker like Latrell but in all honesty there’s not many players in the NRL that are. What he is tho is quicker than anyone in our backline and everyone on this forum has been screaming for more speed out wide.

It’s not hate for AJ per se; it’s exasperation at the pitiful situation whereby we finally think our team may get a superstar but instead we get a standard winger

And I totally agree with the exasperation about potentially missing out on LM but go back and read some of the comments on AJ and there is definite hate for his potential signing.

Unfortunately the potential signing of AJ and LM aren’t being looked at as exclusive and people are looking at AJ as being a substitute signing for LM when in actual fact they need to be treated as seperate to each other.

Take LM out of the equation and AJ is not such a bad signing.

Why do they need to be treated as separate to each other, the two signings? They are both potentially for our club, now we are are talking about them both potentially affecting Souths. I don't see how one can take them in isolation, they aren't.

Maybe it's a glass half empty or half full thing, that'ld be fair enough.

Yeah probably a fair point mate, I guess I just don’t see AJ signing as too negative for the club on his own merits. If you were to look at it as if we chose him over LM then it’s definitely negative but I don’t think thats what has happened if he does actually sign.

Didnt Jennings score 21 or 22 tries in his last year at Souths? Did nothing at the Tigers in 2019.

Not much about at the present time. I would rather keep the money we have and add it to the money we will have next year.

From all accounts we would have quite a bit. More than enough to buy half a team if necessary. Good things come to those that wait.

A decade of not playing finals football there abouts...I'd say we have waited long enough...

I have it on good authority that I have no idea but I would prefer wighten over LM.

Yes, hopefully we have put a feeler out to him, would be a very handy pick up.

Compared to what then a one legged, blind midget.

I heard we are after Dane Gagai but he is being offered to the Titans to get an early release for Arrow.

Surely not. That’s bonkers.

I don’t get it Gagai is good enough to play soo yet seen as not good enough to make our side, but I guess with all our speed in our outside backs and so many soo players he whould struggle to make it

Obviously you are too young to know about The Tigers and Olsen Filipaina.

This signing would be the same as.

He wasn't too bad at club level Russ, but certainly more consistent with and reliable at emptying our garbage bins when I was a youngster.

Superstar playing for NZ, not so much for us.

Always thought they should have made him wear his NZ jumper under his Tigers jersey.

that's the general consensus. My mates like to say "Wests tigers feeder club for the NRL"

So with a war chest so big you can’t jump over it for next year, I wonder how they think things will be any different in our attempts to attract top liners. Okay we have had some success attracting some promising kids, but they are all on three year contracts and will be ripe for the picking if they make the grade by the time their contract expires.

Early days but with what we look like rolling out as a team in 2020, a top eight finish will be a miracle. No real nine, meat and potatoe no 1 and a no6 who is quick between the ears but not with his leg.

Our club desperately needed to sign atop liner, just to get some cred in the market place. Look I am sure behind the scenes they are busting their guts out trying, but it is not working

As much as it seems a big let down to end up with AJ when we were all hoping for LM, the facts are that LM never wanted to play for us and we cant force him to. He does seem to want to play for the rabbits however, and that presents an option for AJ. As a club looking for some outside back speed and experience, i suppose AJ is a consideration especially when there are few other choices on the market. JAC is unlikely to be released for 2020 and may be a target for us in a year or two (although i have a feeling that Souths would be ahead of us).

And I'll continue to say this ....backs won't come to the club when they don't have a forward pack and a quality hooker to play off the back off

And I know we will see a hundred posts shouting me down .....but the facts are their for all to see

WT's should do a poll and ask every player to ask why they are not interested in coming to Concord or even the COE

I'm not joking

There’s a well known line we all know of course that ‘money talks’. Sadly though for WT that is not the case. We need to dangle big money AND something else. Stuffed if I know what that something else is because I don’t believe that we are that bad a team/club in the overall scheme of things.

So there is obviously a problem with the perception of our club , even offering overs is not working ... so that in it self is a concern .
I see our club as a transient entity still with no home or real identity, my strong view is until the club has one home ground and the identity that comes with that this perception will never change !
Others say garbage players just want money ! How’s that working out .
There is a serious issue in play at present and it needs addressing , maybe things around the office need to change , maybe a little to laid back !

AJ is better than anything we have at the moment

That I can 100% agree with, but if he does come he will be playing fullback unless Mitchell does a 180, but if we could have AJ and JAC onboard for next year, our prospects for luring others in 2021 will improve out of sight
