Looks like we missed out on another one Tyrell Fuimaono signs with Dragons for 2 years..damn..

I can confirm we offered him a train and trial only, but he said no to it.

Good

Saved us some heartache

Normally players like that say yes and we all suffer

Very MCK like , too small for the back row .....too slow for centre

@hobbo1 to the snack bar please..

Hobbo's big enough for the back row ........too slow for centre

It may be a sensitive subject in your mind, but I would appreciate you not accusing me of upsetting you by making a factual statement. Not that it means anything but I was a Balmain junior. Only followed one club in my life. It took me 3 years to get used to the merger. I now don’t see a merger or two teams, only one team. As a kid, who watched the 1964 gf,I was soaked to the bone jostling through the crowd while most were leaving the ground. Just to get a glimps of Arthur Sumons as he walked from the ground with Norm Provan. The flash of the reporters camera lit them up like nothing I’d seen with the dark clouds behind them. I went home that day in the belief that I had been the recipient of a Devine message. My future was clear, I became a halfback.

I'm from the Balmain side as well. That stuff should be in the past. We are Wests Tigers now.

Yes, and why wouldn’t they. The Balmain connection proved they couldn’t run a chook raffle.

Straight after this post there are 4 or 5 highly defensive and somewhat argumentative posts defending historic ties. Putting crap on either Balmain or magpies just agitates those with passionate links to our founding clubs. The chook raffle comment caused the next posts.
Maybe an over reaction but we all need to be sensitive to our traditional roots

I didn’t infer you upset me rather that you were pouring petrol on a smouldering log! Also, I’m not sure you could claim the term ‘chook raffle’ fits under the ‘factual statement’ banner.
Anyway, post whatever you like. I just believe these types of posts are divisive. That’s my opinion backed up by reading hundreds of posts on here like it that lead to angry, arguments.
Fantastic story - I’d love to have been a halfback but had to settle for running off their sometimes dodgy passes?
Your passion is obvious and your one club mantra I agree with totally. I too took a while to accept the magpie as part of WestsTigers but only a season or so. Now I’m as magpie as I am Tiger.

Your posts on this issue are always spot on mate.

It is not always the intent of the original poster to offend others but it is usually something that could have been left unsaid. The original post was a reply to a post stating that West's Ashfield now control the club, the reply was unnecessary and served to inflame people's emotions.

Well said Steve, there are far too many post on this forum still that are aimed at driving a wedge between supporters!

Well said, cochise. Especially the post that started this flare up, by insinuating that success of our team was a result of balmain being in charge. To then not continue to mention that balmain were indeed killing the JV, and Wests had to save it, is the type of skewed recalls of history that indeed drives wedges. "Somewhat argumentative" is a polite way of describing that initial post.
This initial post is the one that caused the reactions. If only for the fact that it blew hot air up balmain's back side . . . but conveniently left out the part about exactly who had to save the JV from balmain's incompetence.
I was obviously a Magpie fan prior to the JV . . . but have never yet had a problem with joining forces. Embraced it from day 1.
Until reading Annandale's selective memory post, I have never had cause to gloat that the Magpies saved my footy team. Never once.
But to read this garbage about how balmain drove the success of the WT . . . and to conveniently omit that balmain nearly killed the JV . . . is honestly beyond belief.
And people are commenting about over-reactions ? Well hows about looking at the incendiary nature of that post ?
Oh, and Annadale . . . just to set some facts straight . . . Balmain would not exist as part of our JV if it wasn't for Wests. Secondly, balmain had maybe 5% contribution to our success prior to '12.
5% tops.
Go the mighty WT !!

It's not about being afraid of it. Your point about learning is spot on. There is no way that Balmain were the reason we had some success.

If we've learnt anything it should be that we are one team and we need a well managed organisation and the right players to be successful. Arguing that Balmain are better managers of the footy team is stupid and divisive.

I was referring to their poor fiscal management, the car park etc. nothing to do with the footy team.

Mate, stop pouring petrol on this for God's sake.

21 years is a long time
balmain and wests partnered when needed to form jv and wests helped when balmain needed it
we are one team now . we either embrace or we end up like Norths or Newtown

Divisive, incorrect, selective, inflammatory, uncalled for, offensive, detrimental and pointless.
98% of the criticism should be aimed at that original post, but I sit here in amazement that people are criticising me and others that reacted to Annandale's post.
And not laying the blame squarely at Annadale's post.

I played all my football in the Balmain area for Glebe Youth Club, I followed Wests but now I follow the WESTS TIGERS. Some people just won't let go.

Genuine question, does anything that happened in the past during and immediately after the merger, the make up of the board and who contributed what and when have anything to do with the Wests Tigers recruiting and signing players in the present or near future?

Oh, and just a reminder for those who question the relationship between our financial viability and our teams performance. If we weren’t back in the black how could we spend up to our cap?

Geez guys, chances are there would be no club in the top tier with ties to either foundation club if they were on their own. Wests would have been gone without the merger and Balmain would have been well gone based on their off field performance since if they had their own venture.

Many of us have our memories, so let's happily reminisce about them without a blame game and be happy that we each still have half of our former names alive.

Meanwhile, our 27 boys are training up in Brisbane and we are awaiting to see how the rumours to play out.
