Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

From SMH
Souths already have a quality fullback in Adam Doueihi, who has been strongly linked in recent days to a possible move to the Tigers. It is understood the Tigers approached Souths about releasing him last week but the offer was rejected

Yes please
Would be very happy if we can pull this off

Lets hope he wants to play fullback and doesn't want to be 2nd fiddle behind LM... Surely we are due for a turn of luck

And if WTs do bring the young prop across from the Eels, that is another spot in the Top 30 gone. Where are all these places for the backs with blinding pace that we badly need?

Rowdy used up one of those spots just saying !

Reports Te Maire Martin retiring because of a brain bleed suffered early last year.

Poor bastard. So young & one hell of a talent -
I hope the Cowboys have a job lined up

Yes and let it be kept in our minds that not every player the Tigers "let go" ends up having a superstar career.

Because I get tired of some narratives where every player that leaves Tigers becomes a star somewhere, forgetting all the Te Maire Martins out there.

TMM is basically a prototype Papenhuyzen, same deal behind established footballers, small and fast, loads of talent.

We all realise footballers are one injury away from the end of their career.

Linking this to players we let go and Papenhuyzen is putrid.

I didn't comment because he had a career-ending injury, I commented because now his career can be viewed in total.

When he left here was supposed to be the next best thing, people complaining why we didn't take up our option on him. Then hen he kicked that match-winning goal for Panthers in his debut and everyone was moaning.

Then he dropped out of favour at Penrith, then moved to Nth QLD, got himself into a GF, then was benched in 2018, then got re-established as a fullback-type. Injury this yaer. 55 matches in 5 seasons and unfortunately for him its all over.

I feel sorry for the bloke of course and nothing I say here has any impact on his wellbeing.

Souths might now be willing to release Douehi since they've (apparently) landed Mitchell. Can't imagine Douehi would be too happy about sitting behind the new messiah for the top grossing fullback gig Mitchell's reportedly been promised.

I jumped on the south’s forum to see if there was anything about it and all j could see was them celebrating bloody Mitchel I couldn't do it

How does the top 30 work?
I was under the impression that at some stage it was the top 30 highest paid players.
If you sign a 31st player does the lowest paid then drop out and just become a CC contract player?
Can someone clarify the situation.

No - NRL contracts are different and you can only have 30 signed at any point in time

Hopefully Farah can have a chat to Lebanese team mate Douhei and get him across the line.

I believe Douhei is a life long souths fan.

Strange how this Adam Doueihi, kid is linked to us now it’s been spoken about a few times on this forum.. lol it’s just incredible how these journos know exactly what we all like to talk about and know how to stir us! It’s like they read this and do it on purpose or something 🙄😂

Yah no idea how Souths will fit everyone in if their current backs remain.

Is Doueihi really that good.... I mean I prefer him over AJ, but still.

We are getting pretty desperate. Seems our only options are

Internal promotion
Convince another club to release

I know there wasn’t a lot of movement this year, but it is a very poor result
