Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Douehi would be a really good signing if we can pull it off. He was particularly impressive at fullback at the end of last season, his best position is five eighth, meaning he could take over from Benji, and he seems to have a fantastic attitude. Plus he is a Tigers junior. If we got him, you could straight away say we've had an excellent off season.

Souths already have a quality fullback in Adam Doueihi, who has been strongly linked in recent days to a possible move to the Tigers. It is understood the Tigers approached Souths about releasing him last week but the offer was rejected

Yes of course it was rejected, we get rejected at every bloody turn! Honestly we can't take a trick. Meanwhile teams like Souths just keep on winning.

And can someone tell me, WITH AUTHORITY, that they are balancing the books if they keep all these backs while adding Latrell to the roster?

In the current climate anything is possible with players and clubs ....for instance Doueihi has gone from the next big thing to now being a bit player with LM arriving let’s see how this pans out , do we really think there will be not many with there noses out of joint !Unfortunately us supporters will just have to ride out 2020 , the real positive is the club has a huge number of plodders coming off contract as seasons end and is cashed up big time .
No one likes not being able to sign anyone of note but there is light at the end of the tunnel ... unrest at a few clubs will see to that it never fails ! If there is no immediate success at Souths watch this space .

Forget about the release. Sign him for 2021 first, then apply the pressure.

I know how you feel, I can just imagine the jokes flying around at Bunnies HQ. Hi Wayne anything new today? No , Tigers phoned again wanted to know if we could spare a fullback. Both roflao! Bwahahaha.

What sensible clubs are doing now is signing players a year in advance and putting pressure on his current club for an early release. It seems to be a very effective policy because clubs dont see the point of holding a player who will be leaving next year and often release them early

There is enough anecdotal evidence to suggest something had to give at Redfern. Refuse to take the player they want gone to hold out for the player we do want. Cash talks and the unloading if players will have to occur

I'd also be happy with Cotrick

Cotrick is a Cooma product and the Raiders will more than match what we offer.

Raiders would have to be close to having Cap problems with the Pommies (4) their got Whighton Croker Leilula CNK must be getting tight not to mention Cotric something gotta give.

I don’t think they will be keen to release Doueihi at this stage. The LM deal looks like Souths are hedging their bets. He has a one year deal and then an option in the club’s favour with certain KPIs attached to them.

They obviously want LM but know he comes with some baggage. Seems like they will view AD as some type of insurance also it was mentioned that LM has missed much of the pre-season and would not have the fitness to play fullback early in the season.

And if WTs do bring the young prop across from the Eels, that is another spot in the Top 30 gone. Where are all these places for the backs with blinding pace that we badly need?

Rowdy used up one of those spots just saying !

I'll forget you even said that.

Gagai, AJ, LM, Doueihi, Burns, Allen, Roberts and Campbell Graham. All that backline and we're talking about Gagai and AJ? Feels like the doggies situation all over again.

Souths aren’t hedging any bets, the contract offer to LM is to make it cap compliant. Which means season 1 is locked in and season 2 isn’t committed until they sort next years cap out as the offer for that season isn’t ratified. It’s smart business actually.

We are getting pretty desperate. Seems our only options are

Internal promotion
Convince another club to release

I know there wasn’t a lot of movement this year, but it is a very poor result

It is but what can you do. Let's see how next season plays out. A lot will change over the course of next season.

Todds big stamp of approval (with a smiling rabbit on it) is poised over the LM contract now.Everything seems legit its just a matter of not rushing things so it looks like due care has been taken

Burgess money is my authority, as the only other change is the extension of Walker, which may or may not have included an upgrade for this year.

It seems they have gotten Mitchell whilst they can and will have to create some space to bolster their pack, with Arrow also looking like staying put until next year.

So it's all legit except for potential brown paper bags for Latrell?

AD from souths would be great for us. You only have a small window of opportunity in the NRL and you can't sit back and wait for LM to fail. AD would be stupid if he chose to play understudy for LM. The 2nd year option for Souths regarding LM is a farce and the only way the NRL could turn a blind eye to the dodgy deal. LM will be at souths for at least the next 4 years.

Souths aren’t letting Douehi go, he’s too good.

Yeah, well, I expect that we all think there is some sort of external stimulus attached to the deal. Still, I am not despondent, remaining upbeat about our club improving their ranks in the backs prior to kickoff and then before June 30 if necessary.

Something will have to give at the bunnies, as they need to bolster their pack and have riches in the backs. Little doubt that there will be reasonable choice at some point as they and other clubs look at their options, whilst WT have cash and at least 2 available spots. This sets us apart from most, if not all other clubs as WT don't need to move any players on, though the chooks now have at least the Mitchell void to fill.
