Tick tick tick tick

Don't worry Steve, you know the WT always deliver the goods..

Anyone really surprised at no signing news again today? I know I’m not.

I’m not either. It’s all been media beat up again or people reading another forum.

The crap on here about LM went on for ages, well after the Tigers confirmed they had withdrawn their offer. Some people live in Disneyland.

We will sign two players soon (before round 1) who they are is anyone’s guess at this time.

They are not a club which endears itself to others. We lament about not making the semis but how long since Parra last won a premiership? Also how many wooden spoons have they won in the last few years?

Wests Tigers target Joey Leilua after missing out on Latrell Mitchell

Wests Tigers have made some poor recruitment decisions in recent years. Now they are ready to gamble on one of the NRL’s most volatile players.

But while the anticipated signing of Joey Leilua is another decision that could easily backfire, it also has the makings of a terrific partnership.

That is providing Leilua also agrees to make a change to his game that many have been calling for from him for years.

Leilua is ready to make the move from Canberra to Concord after a meeting with Michael Maguire on Monday.

There is no denying some people around the game are privately wondering how Leilua will fit in with Maguire’s hard-edged coaching style, fearing this could be another deal that ends in tears for the Tigers.

But it’s important to acknowledge it is not Maguire who has to change his ways, it’s Leilua.

At 28, Leilua has been basically forced out of Canberra following Curtis Scott’s arrival from Melbourne and he has no one to blame for that bar himself.

Ricky Stuart gave him plenty of chances over the years but in the end the Raiders said all they needed to say when they went and signed Scott, regardless of the fact Leilua still had a year to run on his contract.

The Tigers have their own concerns given they had previously put an offer on the table but it fell well short of what Leilua was asking for.

But it is now expected a deal could be finalised in the coming days following Monday’s catch up.

The Tigers are becoming increasingly desperate to land a significant signing after missing out on Latrell Mitchell among others this off-season.

It is no use having more than $1 million available in their salary cap for this season if it means finishing out of the top-eight again.

The fact is the Tigers boast the longest finals drought of any NRL club having not made the play offs since Tim Sheens was in charge in 2012.

The last significant spending spree the club went on was before Maguire arrived when Ivan Cleary was in charge and they signed the likes of Russell Packer, Josh Reynolds, Ben Matulino and Chris McQueen, none of which exactly set the world on fire.

But while they have a squad of players that rarely give anything but their best, it can’t be ignored that they just don’t have the strike power to consistently match it with the best rosters.

No one can argue when he is on his game Leilua is as good as any centre in the comp, which is why he can be a great signing for the Tigers.

All he has to do is commit to getting rid of some of the mug tactics that he should have dumped years ago.

Now this is where the club digs in and refuses a player release if Stefano asks for it. He has signed with us for 2021 for 3 years I believe on not a lot.

No release especially to the mud dwellers.

What worries me is as we saw with Matterson, we roll over pretty easy

Ilikena Vudogo. How about we poach this kid from the Broncos. He's off a development contract end of this season and we'd have to be able to beat their dollars.

They really are the scum of the league . Say what you want about any other club , but they consistently do the most underhanded , morally bankrupt things . The desperation for success , really blinds them. Would not surprise me at all , to see them fall into a heap this year .

They are apparently treating him like royalty

Too little too late for Parra I reckon. The reason he wanted out in the first place is because they treated his family badly. Suck it Parra!

Systematically cheated the cap for 3-4 years and won two wooden spoons in the process. Hahahaha.

If we can sign some good players and have some success on the field, what Moses & matterson saywill mean squat. If we have a poor year, their words will ring true.

Hopefully they won't be able to have too much of an influence on the kid....but they are certainly dishing the dirt

If we are 6/2 after our first 8 games, would that validate our recruitment drive?

No, a finals spot would. Tigers have started well last couple years only to be found out later in the season.

Smoke, what does that say about the roster?

Depth. Essentially for 2 years tigers have had 2.5 mil sitting on the sidelines (reynolds,Packer, matulino, mcqueen) + Pascoe fine. Hard to compete when playing 3 mil disadvantage to other teams.

Matulino didn't sit on the side line like the other 3

From what I've read though Stefano hates parra more than those 2 morons hate the tiger's

And anyway he can only pull out if we allow him to

Sorry if this has been said already.

I rarely read League Unlimited, but someone on there said they work with a relative of Adam Doueihi and Storm are apparently favourites. As usual, no idea how accurate this is.
