Re Stefano. Parra’s running a business and will act in their interests. Good on them - they figure their best chance is to get Stefano to flip. Good luck. Equally, I think Tigers were right to release Moses and Matto at their respective times. Moses, according to Cleary has downed tools. Matto wasn’t buying into Madge’s culture - not the first time he clashed with coaches. Maybe a fair criticism could be that Tigers should have extracted a return or break fee, but that doesn’t mean Tigers didn’t act in a commercially sound way in releasing these players. But why waste our energy bashing the Eels for taking their own position - it takes us nowhere.

He’s heating up.

Totally agree

I hate Para with a passion, whats the best supporters forum to join and go in there and throw some cow manure around to see if it sticks ..?? the 1eyedeel .. ??

Werent AJ and Gagai offered up way before Doueihi was? Saying Doueihi isn't good enough for Souths backline seems pretty ignorant.

Ignorant? Wayne Bennett, the master "man manager" told Doueihi he wasnt good enough for Souffs backline. Its a statement of fact. Why do you think it is possible that the Tigers can sign him despite the fact he has more than a year to go on his contract?

Ignorant?

You don't think it has anything to do with the fact a 20 year old kids pathway is being blocked by higher profile /paid players? Seems obvious that they couldn't get any takers for AJ and Gagai and can't have them playing in CC. Just resigned Walker, they have their long term half in Reynolds and now Latrell. Where do you want this "Unproven" kid to prove himself?

Not at all. If he is better than Burns, AJ, Gagai, or Campbell Graham, I expect him to try to push himself into the team. Why cant they have AJ or Gagai playing CC if Doueihi is good enough? Did we have Reynolds and Packer in CC?

This "unproven"kid (not 20yo, almost 22, almost the same age as LM) is on $600K. You dont think that is why Bennett is pushing him out? But we should leap to Souffs aid and pay him $2.4M over 4 years? This "unproven" kid cant force himself into a spot in the Souffs backline and they have to pay him $600K, you dont think THAT is why Bennett is pushing him out?

Nah sorry I honestly don't see it that way. I see a kid that has filled every position for that Souths team when hes been asked while biding his time behind Reynolds, Walker and Inglis.

Mate Im with you. Kid can play, fantastic utility value, some value at fullback, zero experience at 5/8. I'd have him at Tigers, just not for $2.4M

Yeah I'm not responding to his price tag, I was just pointing out the fact I don't think it's lack of talent that keeps the kid from getting a starting spot at Souths.

You're right Wayne 'cares' is...

Still seems fishy that Wayne cares so much to sign and resign other players in Doueihi's position...

I'm not sure where the Wayne cares bit comes from but I don't think Doueihi considers fullback his best position, again it's just a position he was thrown into after they tried AJ there with no luck.

You could go back and look at Doueihi’s rise to the top grade and label him an accidental Bunnies player in any position. He may become a test player by accident as well?

I'm not sure where your going with this? I was simply stating that I don't think Doueihi is being pushed out because he isn't good enough? Geo said it's strange that Wayne is giving his position away but I'm not sure that is his position because he was only put there again because someone else on the team couldnt

If we are any chance of securing a player like JAC then we need to hold funds in reserve, not blow it on a Jack Of All Trades.
Corey is more in the Tedesco mould than Doueihi so let’s show some patience and ready ourselves for the JAC showdown - guns are 10 paces.
Also, quality players will be released by clubs to be cap compliant and will be forced to pay freight.
In the meantime lock in BJ, he adds to passion and mongrel we need, I see him as John Hopoate#2. (They were exciting times, until the finger was unleashed)

Also us signing doueihi will just assist with Souths signing addo car too.

I don't think there is any dought that Doueihi will excel even more over the next few years
How much is anyone's guess
I only took notice of him in the finals last year and you can see by those performances that he has a great career ahead of him
He may not be a Tedesco or a Mitchell but he will be very good
Mitchell on the other hand may well struggle over the next few years if playing fullback
I don't think he is mentally strong enough to keep fit enough to play fullback to the best of his ability
He will need to watch his diet
I seem to remember earlier in his career he had issues with his weight and was sidelined for it
Doueihi on the other hand doesn't seem to have a problem with his weight
His nrl career is young and he looks very dangerous when he has the ball in hand
Is he worth 5 to $600,000 now
Probably not just yet
Will he be worth 5-$600,000 in the next year or two
In my opinion I would say yes if he can continue to build on his finals form
If he plays Fullback or in the Halves he will be worth far more in the future
I think we would be lucky to have him in our side
He looks quick and elusive
Yeah I know only 2 trys in his career
That will change real quick mark my words
Out of all the players with his amount of experience and game time name one that looked as dangerous and willing as he did in the finals
One who is likely to go to the next level
One that you would make a $500,000 bet on
The biggest issue I see is when he does go to the next level he will want more money and more teams will be chasing him
$500,000 won't be enough
I say get him while we can
Sure it would be great to get him for $300,000 but it won't happen
And if it somehow did he would leave just like Matterson did when he new he was worth more and wanted more
Remember a guy by the name of slimy Mitchell
He was nothing special at the time
What's he worth now
$800,000 plus a season
I know we need to be careful but we need to make this happen
We should offer a 2 year deal at $500,000 A year with a further 2 years at $600,000 in the clubs favour
If he doesn't work out no harm
We could release Doueihi at the end of 2021 if he doesn't excel further
In 2021 we will have well in excess of $3,000,000 of cap to spend
This is when the real fun begins

Good calculated post mate. I was against his signing at the price he was asking, but you make a lot of good points and Im back to 50/50 now.

Brain dead is correct. Bloody stupid. He would have made a massive difference but we’re going to be also rans again.

You can't be serious. He would not have made a ""massive"" difference. Did you check out the head to head stats that CB posted on (I think) page P2611 re CT and AD ?

At best AD is a minor upgrade on CT at full back. AD adds a ball playing option and a kicking option. CT is a superior ball runner and defender (based on tackles missed).

If AD wants $600k next year and a four year deal, then I can understand why we have walked away.

I am serious. Let’s see how you feel later in the season ***when he’s playing great footy for another club*** and we’re in our usual spot outside the 8.

Have you forgotten why he may be available to us? if he doesnt sign with another club, he supposedly has been told he will be riding the pine behind the likes of Dane Gagai.

If he doesnt find a new clubm he will not even be starting at Souffs.

he is good player no doubt, covers a lot of positions pretty well, definitely an upgrade on CT...but how much do you pay? Im glad the club has limits.

For everone who is bitching that the club hasnt just thrown the money at him and met his demands.......no other club has either.

He’s available to us because they have Latrell at 1 and Walker at 6. I don’t think it’s a reflection of his ability or potential. Souths have a stacked backline. They can’t keep everyone.

Braiden Burns, Campbell Graham, Dane Gagai.........he cant get a gig past these guys.

Yeah but he’s not a winger. He plays 1 and 6.

not for Souffs he doesnt, his coach doesnt think he is good enough, even for a centre or wing spot,

Geez Glenn seriously? It has been widely reported he is highly rated by Bennett (it’s why he played him fullback last year) and Bennett knows he wants to play 1 or 6. They signed him up thinking he’d be their long term fullback/five eighth but then LM comes along and Walker is re-signed. Bennett doesn’t want to stifle his career so he’s told him he’s free to move elsewhere in order to play his position as that is what Doueihi wants.

He’s a great player but they have One if the best players in the game at fullback and a very good, long term 5/8. It would be stupid of them to retain Doueihi. He’s not a centre and he’s not a winger and I have no idea why people keep calling him a utility.

He is a ultility because he has played 17 of his 30games in positions other than his "preferred positions" and has NEVER played a single first grade game as 5/8, but people here are suggesting we should pay him $600Kpa?

He has played centre and wing at Souffs but still Bennett has told him he will be on the bench and Braiden Burns, Campbell Graham, AJ and Dane Gagai will start ahead of him.

and..."Its been widely reported that Wayne Bennett Rates him?", the same Wayne Bennett that said James Graham is never coming to Souffs? The Same Wayne Bennett that said Souffs would not sign Latrell? I wonder why Wayne Bennett would tell the world that he "really rates" this young utility that he cant fit into the starting team but is going to cost him $600K?

For god sake you guys. Do you think that Madge tells opposition clubs that he really rates Reynolds, Packer, McQueen & Mbye?

Doueihi is a good player, would rather him over AJ & Gagai, but cant believe everyone is losing their stuff over him and want to pay him $600K.

He is no more a utility than Latrell Mitchell. He hasn’t played much fullback in his first grade career but you were happy to pay him $1m a season.

Latrell Mitchell played fullback, at 19yo, for the best and richest team in the world for 16 of his first 17 games. After 14 weeks he had played more games at fullback in first grade than Doueihi has in his whole career and he tore up and was already a superstar. Thank you for proving my point.

Latrell isless than 18 months older than Doueihi and has played four seasons of NRL, played for for Australia and SOO, but yeah Doueihi has played for Lebanon.

Are you serious with this?
Latrell has also played 4 games at 5/8 to Doueihis 0, but yeah, he is a first grade 5/8 that is going to take over from Marshall and we will pay him $600K

Why are you comparing a 1 million dollar player to a 537k player.

Yes, 350k for fist year, 600k for following 3 years... that's 537k per year.

He is worth that - you don't think so.

Ok - you just wait for a marquee FB to become available - nothing on the horizon for next two years - Oh! right, lets try for a big year in 2023 or maybe further.

Easts will probably sign both Doueihi and BJ now that Smith has torn his ACL and Teddy has apparently torn his pectoral.

Have you seen anything on Teddy Bogan? Seems to be slowly gathering momentum

Just unconfirmed reports.

No Cronk and no Tedesco, they might be up for a tough year.

Sadly a contract means nothing these days LM, absolutely nothing. I won't be surprised at all if we lose this guy before we even get him here.

How long is a player out usually with a torn pec? 3 months?

I was just thinking that exact same thing.
