We missed out on murdoch masila, would of loved him back in the tigers jersey, hes a good forward and heavily underated in my opinion. I think we should search or a forward in the super league someone like walmsley would be perfect.

He’ll flop at warriors - needs a strict coach to get him fit enough for NRL.

with all these dummy halfs it looks like Liddle might be on borrowed time ?

I think we are looking past Liddle, we now have 2 all be it young, genuine options at 9 other than Liddle

looking past Liddle,

I've suggested this previously that I reckon the Club respects Liddle but are realistic about his development. But something Madge said a while back suggested a role for Liddle in the Coaching ranks. He was seen in the Coaching group at games and has been active in Community events. He seems to be a role model for the Youth and could well be a mentor, despite his age, to the young rakes coming through. As JoshC said, pace is important but it's what's between the ears that counts and Liddle must be highly regarded in that department.

James with multiple ACL injuries - wouldn’t touch with a barge poll.

I'd buy Ryan James if I was a bit desperate for size, on a reduced contract. Sort of a Sam McKendry type scenario.

I don't think we are desperate for size. Rusty Packer won't even get a run in the first-choice team and he's hardly a spent force or minnow.

No More Highly Paid Forwards at the end of their careers and with history of major Injuries.

I think we have done this ro many times in the past.

We are now beginning to take shape as a club that will improve dramatically from 2021 and beyond.

Lets be very particular about who and where we recruit

Our 2021 signings for me will show us exactly where Madge is as far as acceptance as an NRL coach and the WT's

Certainly not highly paid, bargain basement. If he had nowhere to go and we got him super cheap, then why not? Signing Matt Ballin didn't do any damage, apart from being a joke, because he was on stuff-all contract.

Liddle and fit are not something usually seen in the same sentence

Ballin was on about the same as McQueen is Manly paid most of the first year and none of the second

Because we only have 30 cap slots. Everyone keeps suggesting we keep buying forwards. There is only so many spots available

The current Top 29 (1 spot spare) includes Sam McIntyre and Dylan Smith, and personally I don't think either of them will play first grade unless some massive injury crisis. I would have no issue if Ryan James was in that category, as a potential low-cost option to round out the roster.

If we signed better forwards than Ryan James, so be it.

I agree with you but you kind of made my point. McIntyre and Smith ***have contracts*** and therefore take up those slots. Of course Smith is also a back

i see Mclntyre playing first grade this season at some point.......as for smith.he was a big letdown for me, he has the ability and talent to be great...but i dont think he is needed here anymore

Dunno about that, I feel like I've seen the sentence "Liddle is never fit" a few times!

McIntyre would only ever play if every other back rower is injured.

Rankings would be:

Garner
Leilua
MCK
Lawrence
ET
McQueen/McIntyre

You would need at least 3 of the above to be injured for him to even get a look in. But even then players like Aloiai/Mikaele/Eiso could potentially play there

Shines a light on the potential for problems with these development contracts. WT would have to add Heath Gibbs to the list if he had not left, to now have three of them that probably won't play in the top grade.

Our junior recruitment (and probably in general) back then just wasn't good enough. Our current Dev players are all of a far higher standard so less risk. But it's a means to sign the most promising juniors. The lure of a guaranteed NRL contract in the future has appeal compared to just a 2 year Flegg contract for example. Some have 2 years dev 1 year nrl, some 1 year dev and 2 years NRL. They seem to be the standard contracts offered.
