Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

In my humble opinion I think this team is lacking experience, aggression and leadership in the middle forwards and would like to see madge and the recruiters sign 2 or 3 players from the following suggestions. Off contract in 2020 are Adam Elliott, Ryan James & Herman Ese'ese. Off contract in 2021 are Dale Finucane, Isaac Liu & Paul Vaughan. How do you view my opinion and suggestions?

I dislike copying others' methods.
However, as much as I also dislike the Eels and Brad Arthur, I cannot ignore how they have advanced since their wooden spoon.
Their recruitment has been an eye-opener.
I feel that Wests Tigers are just beginning to escape the tragic misdeeds of Cleary and others, the salary cap anomalies are slowly being reversed and countered, and I am optimistic of what's to come.

People’s incessant focus on what a player is paid completely clouds the issue.

I don’t get it

It would not be a problem if people actually knew for a fact what people are paid. But they don't, nobody does, not even what's reported in the papers.

So I agree it's a pointless consideration to think about "possible" pay being received.

And even then, if you did know the exact pay, what of it? You'd end up down the analysis route a la Smoking Gun where Philip Sami is the best fullback in the comp, or maybe like Dessie where Aiden Tolman has the best prop output per dollar.

Big question marks over our spine for next year. Reynolds not good enough, Benji probably gonna retire, Grant will be gone and brooks is really out of form at the moment.

Doueihi the only one I can be excited about in our spine.

Spine is a concern.
At fullback or 5/8? We need a fullback with more speed long term. I like adam but he lacks that speed. Would like to see him at 5/8 or centre ultimately, but we need another fullback first.

Brooks 5/8 Cade Cust half.
I would move Doueihi to centre.

Definitely fullback. Him not being lightning fast doesn’t bother me, he does everything else really well. If we can sign a class fullback then we can move him to 5/8 but only if they’re really good

I like the looks of Cust. I’d keep Doueihi at fullback he doesn’t make mistakes and he can score and set up tries

Doueihi. He's the Luke Covell of fullbacks. Solid and safe. But DAMN he's slow. Nick Meaney would be great and solves our goalkicking.

Too small.

No.1 Priority at least one first grade quality player with a good goal kicking record.

Yes Isaako would be perfect. Fills two voids, he’s a very good goal kicker and he is a tall winger, who has some speed. Forget his form this season, their whole team is shattered at the moment, but remember his performances in previous years. He would be great for us.

And for some reason it wasn’t a concern for JT, Ivan or Madge. It’s killed us for years and really has to be a priority.

Keep an eye on Charlie Staines playing for Penrith today, he’s a young talented back who I believe is available to talk to come November

Very quick. Still just a kid but he has skills, don’t know how likely he is to leave Penrith though. Can play anywhere in the backline including fullback

Having a dream debut so far unlike Hoffman 😳

Luckily for Staines, he has not had his 1/2 and 5/8 and Centres rushing out of the line leaving him stranded. I thought Hoffman was solid under the high ball and all kicks went his way. Tough debut but hopefully the team learns from this.
