Penrith are smart that’s how you do business he is on contract for another year at minimum wage.
Basically upgrade ahead of time by $300k for next year and then another 3 years at 375k. It’s the same as him signing with another club for 475k for 3 years in 2021. Any other club would have to pay 150k per season more to get him as after tax the move is pointless. Then add the fact they have a great young local team, all played together for years and excellent facilities and you retain star players.

Realistically, of those players that are actual possibilities of coming to us, I’d go after Alex Johnston, Adam Elliott, and either Farnworth or Saab.

Definitely throw some at Crichton, he is a freak.

Stephen Crichton? He is a gun. That is well unders and he'd be silly to sign for so long. I think you'll see him get 400kish on a 2 year deal so that he can test the market after.

It's a shame we have our centres sorted with Talau and BJ. You'd be tempted to offer 500k if you're the Tigers although we have those positions filled and I don't think he'd wanna move to wing. He can pass, can find the line and while he got shown up by Waqa Blake when they played, has been fine defensively for a young bloke.

They have Uncle Nick and his connections. NRL will never be a level playing field. Also players salaries are only guesses from the media. I wouldn't believe the figured banded around.

It blows my mind how the NRL want an even comp but turn a blind eye to cheating.
There books like fine and they always will be because they are smart in hiding the truth..
Even ex Roosters players joke about side payments, Golf memberships, Kids private school fees, Rent free apartments, etc etc.... One day someone is going to come out and tell all and it will all fall apart..

Anyway not much we can do about it except keep trying and maybe another 2005 year will come along.
I think the Salary cap should be looked at and maybe moved to a points system to ensure talent is spreed around. Rewarding the clubs who develop there juniors as well would be a great start so clubs like Roosters / Souths don't keep poaching the best talent without putting all the work in.

Don't forget Cordner who would have to be on around 800k, Chrighton who be on similar, taukeiaho is around 700k.

Roosters players take pay cuts on their nrl contracts and earn it back in third party payments. Technically not really cheating but it’s certainly unfair on majority of clubs.

Crighton is a fullback who is playing centre, I agree we could use him

Exactly, either will do, Flanagan being a kicker would be handy, but Walker is supposed to be the next big thing

Roosters will let Flanagan go before they do Walker, they rolled out the red carpet for Walker and had Robbo and Keary sell him the dream. unfortunately he won't be going anywhere, but if there's an opportunity for us to snap up Flanagan I think that'd be a masterstroke.
