Get all club payments and TPA to go through the NRL, (so they will actually be real TPAs) and then focus on reducing the corruption within the NRL itself (because no plan is perfect and I bet there will be dodgy deals done there).

They do all go through the NRL - all TPAs are reported and ratified by the NRL. So are all contracts, registered with NRL. NRL knows exactly who is getting what.

If you are talking about the unofficial "shadowy" brown paper bag backdoor carpark deals, there's nothing the NRL can do without evidence.

If I choose to "gift" Harry Grant a brand new house and I have no official affiliation with the Tigers apart from being a fan, there's nothing the NRL can do. Any club with heavy-hitting supporters are going to see that clout impact the roster.

It's like Rusty flying kids up to his property at Nana Glen and showing them his oscars, when Pascoe asks the same kid to come to the demountables and they can have a popper whilst they wait. It's not a perfectly even comp and we should never expect it.

Roosters will see their empire fall, it's inevitable, people will move on, players retire, they won't be able to sustain the magic roster year on year.

I don't believe gifts and such are beyond the touch of the NRL to police. If they are, they should give the pretence about a fair comp away. It's not difficult to notice someone driving around in a brand new car, living in a new house.

Players need to have their (and their immediate families') incomes highly scrutinised, by some independent accounting agency that is above reproach to ensure fairness and incorruptibility. So all income is accounted for. I don't put much stock in the argument about it's not fair to the players, or it's breaching their confidentiality. Rubbish. It's fair to the game, and if they want to play the game then they must adhere to the rules.

The NRL doesn't have to do this, but I don't know of any other way they can make this competition fair. If they choose to continue sticking their head in the sand, the same rorting will continue to happen.

I don't expect it to be a perfectly even comp, but I do expect the NRL to forever be trying to make it as even and fair as possible.

V’landys bending the rules so Roosters can sign SBW. Now V’landys also bending the rules so Souths can hold onto young gun Suaalii so he can debut before he turns 18.

The NRL will never change ?

We can take solace from obtaining Asu Kepaoa early from the Roosters because of SBW's arrival. There is the possibility Souths may not be able to secure JAC or retain AJ due to Suaali's signing. Souths need forwards, so some good msy come of these approvals.

Silver linings hey

We should throw 1.3 at keary for 5 years.
Steal him away.
Would be worth every cent

That wouldn't leave very much for Munster

That would be a hard decision. Munster or keary?

It's never going to happen. At best the RLPA may eventually agree to publish club salaries, but personal incomes will never be disclosed, nor family deals either.

Yeah there's rorting, there's been rorting in every industry worldwide since the concept was invented. Rugby league will never be entirely clean. But you know it's probably a cleaner sport than tennis, cricket, association football, boxing, horse racing etc.

People need to have some perspective - yeah Roosters have a crash hot lineup and they've won 2 straight premierships. I don't doubt there's some dodgy deal going on to keep so many top-tier players at the club. But compared to St George in the 60s, Man U in 2000s, Celtic and Rangers, Barca and Real Madrid, Federer-Nadal-Djokovic etc. I'd say rugby league is pretty even right now. Even powerhouse clubs like Broncos are having a turn at the bottom.

They will as long as the golf games go on.

That's a good point with the Broncos. You're right about that, even with all their advantages, they have gotten some things wrong and are paying for it.

That was the best thing about us in 2005, Raiders last year, Knights this year (for a time but they're now dropping), the underdog getting up despite it all, proving it's possible.

Yes it's not perfect, and honestly never will be, and I have enjoyed the progress made by V'landys so far. Good thing we're in this country, because yes things (in sport) are much worse elsewhere.

Last point to try and get it back on track. Here's hoping Madge can work out our halves, because if he has to offload Brooks and go to market, I don't know what realistic good options are out there. A young Panther half in May or Burton perhaps. There's really not much around.

I have no idea why Munster has been spoken about for the last 50 pages. Absolute zero chance of ever signing with the tigers. We are likely to invest in a young fella and hope he works out....
