James Tamou has agreed to terms.
2 year deal (possible 3rd option club favour but don’t think that will happen)

Thanks Pom. JAC?

Only a matter on time now ?

Is there any other possible signings you can mention ?

Staines, Hetherington & Tukimihia Simpkins on the cards.
Sam McIntyre to be submitted extension this week.
If we can release a few “undesired” players & $$ is freed up there won’t be much more movement.

Stanies and Hetherington would round off a great recruitment drive with Tamou and JAC. My only weakness I see is that backrow is still not where it should be. Garner is too inconsistent - misses to many tackles, does not do the hard yards and to be is not hitting the unders line like he was doing last year. I am hoping that Blore is being groomed to our other 2nd rower for next season after a good pre-season.

Blore is being groomed to be the perfect partner with Luciano, building confidence/fitness to be an 80min 2nd Rower & run with a 3 prop bench plus Liddle/Simpkins sharing role.

With Tamou and likely JAC coming as well, can't see another big bucks player fitting into the cap and with the hookers mentioned above, seems that Harry is a no go regardless of whatever Smith decides.

Maybe Adam Hartigan brought the Rooster's cap manager with him.

Maybe brydens have helped with some acquisition of real estate lately for tigers players.

12 Tests for Australia + 6 World Cup games
14 Origins
262 NRL games

Although 32 next season Tamou has proven to be a reliable front rower, he’s athletic for a big man whose had no major injuries. He knows how to manage his fitness and physical well-being to last each season. Considering this and modern day sports science he should continue to provide quality performances for next two seasons.

His leadership qualities are also highly prized, the squad needs a benchmark in application and attitude.

Anyone that has doesn't think Tamou would be a walk up start to our pack is kidding themselves! Just because our boys can play a good game once a month and never against the big boys doesn't make them superstars. Remember how often our pack gets monstered? That's because our pack is mentally akd physically weak.

To sign up an unspectacular but consummate professional with a rep career who has proven to perform well week in week out against all opponents, it's nothing but a win. He's live a better version of of Eiso and Twal. Don't think we'd need eiso of he signs. Sure he's not Fifita but he'll keep us in the game for others to stand out.

So how do we fit JAC, Tamou, Staines and Hetherington into our cap next year with a little over $1m available according to reports. Or am I missing something?

Well Tamou is at the back end of his career - the UK is not an option with his family and he'd have to be careful not to outbid himself so to speak. The other three players, well I suspect getting all three may be dependent on Reynolds gaining some commonsense and going to the UK - that frees up enough money. Otherwise I suspect we may snag 1, maybe two of them.

The young Cowboy is physically imposing and could be a beast in the a couple of years but Hetherington hits the ground running and helps our forward pack noticeably IMO, throw in a fit Musgrove as well and we have a bit more intimidation.

Willow, does Madge have the ability to keep Hetherington on the field? What is it, 6 judiciary charges in a 14 NRL game career so far...

i mean if he can handle Leilua

Old Madge loves a challenge....

What coaching Wests Tigers not enough of a challenge? ?

I believe Hetherington has the ability to be a top 5 forward in. RL once he undergoes a Maguire initiation/transition workshop.

Ahhh the classic Madge off-season.
Proven to cure all form of plodderness.

IF Tamou is confirmed, and we’re after Hetherington, how many props would that make for next year? I count 7(not including Twal considering he’s mostly played lock)

Hetherington is an impact player like Blore whom we sorely need.

Could be, if he stays on the field lol.

What I’m trying to figure out is how the bench would work out. Don’t like the idea of 3 props on the bench unless one of them is a hybrid that can transition to the back row.

We’re still light on edge forwards that can break the line.

I think about players who are let go from a club and then turn out to be guns elsewhere...
For us, Brown, Paps, Addo-Carr and Siro...
These guys might not end up as successful as they are without having gone through the journey of leaving.
So firstly I'm crossing all fingers n toes that we can land Hetho and that he matures and leaves all the silly stuff behind, coz he will be a gun.
As for bench rotation, I agree. Twal should be versatile enough to fit that mould, has the experience and the motor.

I’d like to know who we are setting our sites on for 2022. If all goes to plan and we sign Tamou, JAC and one or two others, what position are we looking to splurge on with Reynolds and Packer’s money.

Hetherington

That is massive news on Tamou. As much as JAC would add, it won’t mean much if we’re getting belted in the middle.

Him and Aloiai is a very solid starting front row.

Chuck in Stefano and Musgrove and opposition teams will dread playing us. Fingers crossed hetherington too. Bit of mongrel.

Has Stefano shown anything to make people think he's going to be any sort of immediate impact? If he shows close to what Blore has this year I'll be happy but I don't expect it.

He hasn’t exactly stood out in his few appearances. Too early to judge, but there’s nothing about him that suggests he’s another Payne Haas.

If it’s in there a bloke like Tamou will help get it out. I always felt sorry for Woodsy, he never had a mentor at WT.

Maybe it's just me but I'd like to see Grub go back to the Bulldogs. They guy clearly loves them (and to be honest, he's genuinely tried to be whole-hearted with us too) and it would be good to see him finish his career there. Maybe with Foran on the out it could happen?

I wonder if Tamou's presence could spark Packer into some form.

Milton Ulladulla Bulldogs maybe

He's played about 45 seconds of nrl so far. Hard to stand out when you don't play...

Any progress with the “undesired” players?

Talks between the club & super league about Reynolds picked up a little the last couple days (Reynolds appears very reluctant to leave, but manager knows it best option for his playing longevity)

Talks on Packer nothing new.

What’s with Reynolds not like he has kids just go mate.

My guess would be halves.

Unless Reynolds leaves it looks very unlikely we'd be signing a new half before next season. It really is going to be Brooks biggest season, last chance to prove himself. And time will tell if AD cements himself as the 6, then there's Madden who might get a chance.

But I can't see 2 out of those 3 holding a halves position.
