Simona on the move

Is that a life ban from the NRL? Will he be able to play ESL?

Just a Paul Kent prediction at this point. Strangely enough Rothfield defended Simona suggesting that it would be extreme and hard to prove in terms of matchfixing

I feel quite torn by this. Life ban for stupidity and we have players who have abused women allowed to do time and get another chance. My son has met Tim and couldn't speak more highly of him I understand there must be some level of punishment but the severity compared to some of the low acts done by others who are still playing - nup. Hope he is receiving some support.

I agree. How they can reconcile players involved in domestic violence that are still playing makes you wonder. Maybe if women and kids were the major sponsor of the NRL, not gambling agencies, we'd see a change. I think he should suffer a ban, but lifetime seems excessive.

Of course domestic violence cannot be justified or excused but in a way it is a more " natural" thing to do than cheating against your whole team and fans for a few bucks. Some of us have shocking short and wild tempers just waiting to be ignited and of course it will be our partner who is in contact with us 24/7 through all kinds of pressures etc. that will cop the wrath. Add a few beers into the mix and screaming kids and one's self control can break down if one does no know how to handle such situations. Football of course attract the strong and violent types so we should not be too surprised.

Give yourself an uppercut for normalising and excusing blokes hitting their partners.

The difference in treatment is just because one directly impacts on the integrity of the game and the other just trashes the reputation of the game.

I can't agree with you mate, I would say cheating is as natural. Play games with a kid and they will cheat to win. They will also hit you given the right set of circumstances but as we grow and learn we establish that neither is acceptable.

Sponsors like SportsTab are extremely heavily protected by the NRL. The protection to women and children nowhere near as much.

Wow - just wow.

He alledgedly tried to alter the outcome of games for a cash payment. If that doesn't explain why a life ban is in order, then I don't know what will.

He directly bet on opposing players to score AGAINST us. He has broken the strictest team code. I feel no symapathy for him.

Can't believe it was Timsim too, why couldn't it be Rankin or someone getting the boot

lol no surprises Rothfield is defending a gambler…wasn't he under investigation for supplying team info to Eddie Hayson and co?

Admittedly he was supporting Simona, saying "he's only 24 and life ban is harsh" but Tim should just know better.

I wonder how his teammates have taken the news

sorry to trivialise maybe it wasn't corruption but just realising his own inadequacies. He should never be allowed to play in a game on which gambling takes place.

If it is found that he has bet against himself by backing his opposing number and they've scored, he's breached the trust of his team mates. That is the lowest thing you can do in footy and he should be banned for life, and scrubbed from our club history. Get rid of his cap number off the board, remove him from any reprints, I'm talking a full Soviet airbrush job.

Yeah, why couldn't it have been someone else betting against us, someone a bit less valuable. I find it odd, that Rankin is still receiving more hate than a player who conspired to sabotage us.

Basically give him the Chris Benoit treatment. For all the wrestling fans out there.

Apparently Rankin would have done it too but he found out that his opposite winger was never priced better than $2 to score first so he decided it wasn't worth the risk.

That joke would have been more effective if it was about Kev.

TimSim probably won numerous SuperCoach comps as well by trading his teams centred for who he was marking up against. Brilliant! The funny thing is our right side defence was horrendous and TimSim was on the left. Anyhow, yes he should be scrapped but so should anyone else who had done the same thing. No exceptions.

As much as i think Rankin is poor we have players with worse defence than he does
