OFFICIAL Sione Fainu #284

Most improved player in our squad over last 2yrs, could become our prime starter with May next season.
Pole has lost pace and the foot work so I think he is playing busted.
On form Sione is our 2nd best prop at the club right now.
We do need another prop though, we’re lucky injuries have been minimal to May, Fainu and Twal.

He's just a good player. Position doesn't matter to him. Burned an easy try though.
Interestingly with Latu playing lock, we had the entire backrow of Fainus! Has that ever happened before?

Idk, if he plays the next few weeks on the edge and does what he did today, I’d be looking to play him there. He played like a MF’er today.

Main change has been sorting out our 6 and 7, everything’s been flowing from that imo. Douehi always said he wanted to play 6 or 7 and now Luai back to his dancing and scheming best.

I suggested in the off season he should be tried in the backrow due to our lack of options there. He is proving quite a handful. I think he is better suited to the middle where he can utilise that footwork more as he doesn't seem a natural hole runner. However its great to have a middle that can switch to the edge if needed. His motor has surprised me. Can play big minutes.
I have a mate that has / still coaching at the Manly junior level pathways and he told me to go have a look at the footage of the NSW under 19's... he chased down and made a tackle on the QLD winger. He quoted at that time he was the best middle forward he had seen, unfortunately, he went off the rails with his brother Manese went to jail and only now finding his confidence and belief.

I'd be inclined to believe your friend. I forget the game but it was this year. Maybe the Raiders game where we were down 16-0 early? He came on when our middle hadn't done too well and we were leaky. He had some huge runs and changed the momentum for us. We still lost but it really stood out for me.

It’s at about the 3:00 mark didn’t quite make the tackle but a great chase.
Some big names in the QLD backs!

he’s off contract November 1 are we worried we haven’t re-signed him yet?
i think he will be locked up with an upgrade. He’ll want to stay with his brothers and most importantly, I think Sione is key to the building the Tigers playing identity the Benji has spoken of.

Recently, yes. Getting rid of Galvin has sorted out our spine.
Really the big change has been getting Pole back and having Taylan May. 2025, Turuva and Skelton upgrading our backline defense massively. Adding May and we can actually hold the line and pass the ball around a bit.
