Sironen: Ready for my best year yet...

I would love to see his brother Bayley play first grade for us in the future. He's a big boy, similarly build like his brother.

Our players would save themselves backlash from the fans and the media if they don't fullfill there talked up hype about themselves.
Just do the talking on the field and let the rest talk you up of the field.

Very true. The only self promotion I have liked so far was from Marty Tapau who said he hoped Greg Bird played in Rnd 1 so he could sit him on his arse again. Classic.

I wonder what the reaction on here would be if the whole squad spent the off season sayin "no comment" every time they were asked a question by a reporter? Or if the club posted no articles all off season? I suspect we all know the answer to that.

FTR I wouldn't expect Sirro to say anything different. If this year isn't his best you'd be asking some serious questions.

I'll cut him slack that his preparation last year was ruined by the 9's and the team was about to freefall by the time he returned but he needs to really stand up this year.

If the team starts well I think we'll see a lot of the kids make that step up to the next level.

He didnt actually talk himself up either, the title indicates he has, but essentially he just trotted out the usual great to have a full off season, body feels good, looking forward to a big season…..

There is not much else they can say really....

way more aggresive too, sirros big but has played a bit soft.

running hard in the trials this year though, theyve probably taught him and coached him into playing hard for longer periods of time with consistency, like a backrower not a 5/8

Siro Snr was a tad soft in his early years too. The dogs forwards used to call out 'here she comes' when he as taking a hit up. It all changed when Gus got him at Origin, he was just unstoppable after that.
Curtis is the one player I'm really keen to see play this year.

Like father, like son. Paul was also a back (centre) as a junior that made the transition to the back row, but Curtis has more ability at the same age for mine.

Whether or not he goes on to be more than just a run of the mill first grader is another matter. Let us hope he does.

Would just like to see him get quite a few, consistent games under his belt, with no niggling injuries.
Once this occurs, we will see him develop immensely.

Gary Belcher and Scott Sattler said they expect Curtis to play origin this year…..

I think he is a terrific player, but think that is a little optimistic.

Have to remember that he is only 21 years old, with only 38 games under his belt.

This should be his best year yet, since he is still learning his trade.

And we will hopefully be able to say the same for the next 5+ years as he continues to develop.

To what Q? The only thing open to conjecture is which has/had more ability at Curtis' age, and apart from a possible few on here, one would struggle to find anyone that chose Paul.

You think Siro snr was a top class backrower straight away? I remember differently.

**You think Siro snr was a top class backrower straight away?** I remember differently.

I was at Paul Sironen's first game, and like everyone else there, knew we were seeing someone who was going to be special.
From memory he won the rookie of the year as well - maybe not top class straight away, and nowhere near how good he would become, but he was bloody good!
