The Wests Tigers recently held their school holiday clinic at Birchgrove Oval. Ive been given the run down by my girlfriends 9yo son who was in attendance.

The club offered up fringe players Joel Luani, Kurtis Rowe, Chance Peni and Sitaleki Akauola.

All four players presented well and did a fantastic job with the kids, the day itself was put on by the NRL and from all reports was well run, informative and fun.

The report on Luani was that he was very nice, it was suggested by said 9yo that perhaps a little too nice and this could have something to do with his inability to crack a first grade spot.

The other guys all did an exceptional job but special mention goes to Akauola who worked really well with the kids, was personable, responded well to the questions put to him and represented the club to the best of his ability.

I had a lot of time for the his talent before the school clinic but after hearing the reports i also have a lot of time for him as a decent person.

When asked by my reporter what his current position is Akauola said he plays everywhere but hooker.

When asked by my reporter can he play first grade again? - he said he is ready and waiting and would love to.

It is a crying shame the club arent treating him better, he has been pushed around, used and under valued all year. You would expect him to be disgruntled, upset or even angry yet when chosen to be an ambassador for the club he leaves all that behind and proudly and without fuss does an outstanding job representing the Wests Tigers.

I dont know about you guys but this is the kind of human being we should be looking to build this club around. Instead we are pushing him out the door.

Congrats to Sitaleki, Kurtis, Chance and Joel, you made a group of wide eyed kids very happy.

Keep it up.

It's the defence which is a problem.

Personally I've seen enough to give him more of a run, because he is a threat and I think we need game changers, not just honest workhorses.

But JT persists with Santi and Lovett, who are clearly consistency over impact.

Excuse me but why was thread moved to here.'

It is about Sitaleki Akauola and it deserves its own thread.

We have a million and one negative threads around this forum.

I am asked by a 9yo to post on here about how brilliantly one of our players represented the club and it is moderated into oblivion in this old promotional thread from a couple of weeks ago.

Disgusted with this moderation.

Please… spare me.
A reserve grader does well according to a 9yo at a coaching clinic and suddenly a first grade squad should be built around him?
If you've seen him play you'd know he's been average....I agree they've buggered him around positionally....but he's nowhere near NRL level

It has hardly been moderated into oblivion. Well done to the players on representing the club, but Akauola has a way to go before getting another run in FG.

lol.

Good work Sia

He's got x-factor but he needs to work on his defence before having another chance at FG

How about a little bit of reality and a response appropriate to what i had posted.

Nowhere did i say that we should build a first grade squad around Akauola. I only ever suggested that we should look at having more decent people in the squad.

But you know that . .

Watch our win over Parramatta over easter last year and you will see Sita more than has it for first grade in talent terms its just he needs a quick can of whoopass to make him more consistent and focused.

He surely couldn't be worse than the likes of Santi, Lovett and Buchanan, but JT loves plodders.

Every club has plodders

Its a matter of turning them into good reliable plodders though

I think Lovett is on the way to becoming a good un

I can still remember people giving Simon Dwyer heaps when he was working on his motor early on

I'd rather have better players…sorry for being honest again

A couple, the problem is that we have many of them.

True , but other clubs manage to cope with their fair share of plodders

Its comes down to surrounding them with big names and quality middle of the road players that can carry them

We have overpaid many current players , so we don't have enough solid , good 100 plus game NRL players

That's our issue , we have virtually no players in that middle of the road average , we either have the Woods ,Farah and Tedesco's or the Lovetts ,Sirros ,Nofoalumas etc

And that's why we are failing
