The Daily Telegraph can reveal Wests Tigers had decided to blood Moses in first grade this Friday night against premiers Sydney Roosters before the NRL suspended the young five-eighth.

He will now have to wait another two weeks, if not longer, before making his top-grade debut.

Wests Tigers coach Mick Potter last night chose Blake Austin at five-eighth for the match at Allianz Stadium with Moses suspended and Braith Anasta unavailable with an ankle injury.

Moses, 19, is brilliant young prospect and there is little doubt he and half-back Luke Brooks will be the Tigers’ halves combination for years to come.

Tigers players yesterday backed Moses — but made it clear gay slurs weren’t acceptable after

the nephew of Balmain great Ben Elias was banned for breaking the NRL’s anti-vilification policy. He admitted calling an opposition player a “f … ing gay c ...” during last weekend’s under 20s State of Origin match at Penrith.

MOSES BANNED FOR TWO WEEKS FOR GAY SLUR

“Obviously there is no room in the game for that stuff,” forward Adam Blair said. “The NRL has made a massive stance on it. They have come out and given him two weeks.

“He will learn a big lesson and everyone else out there will learn (too). It was said in the heat-of-the-moment but there is no room for that.

Wests Tigers coach Mick Potter and centre Chris Lawrence both believe Robbie Farah will be available to play for NSW in game one of this year's State of Origin series, after the hooker made an early return to the training ground.
“A lot of things go on out on the field but with technology these days you can’t get away with anything.

”You don’t want to be throwing those words out (there) anyway. The NRL has made a massive stance.”

Austin said he had “no complaint” about Moses’ suspension.

HIGHS, LOWS & BIG BLOWS: REP EDITION

“I’d like to see it eradicated from the game. In this day and age, you just can’t be putting anyone down,” Austin said. “Obviously the NRL has taken a stance and I think it is where the game needs to go in the day and age we are in.

“I also think it is a great opportunity to educate our younger players, maybe rolling out programs at our rookie camps on what can and can’t be said.

Take a look at our representative round of highs, lows and big blows
“I’ve got no complaint with the stance the NRL has taken. I think it was a throwaway line but this is a good chance to really move forward and grow as a game.

“By no means do I condone what Mitchell said. I am a firm believer that rugby league is for everyone and I’d like everyone who wants to enjoy rugby league, to enjoy it for what it is.”

Forward Marty Taupau and winger David Nofoaluma weren’t quite as vocal.

“The NRL has already sorted that out,” said Taupau.

Nofoaluma added: “He is great kid. I’ll leave that to Mitch, that is more his business.”

Elias was not commenting yesterday on Moses’ suspension.

Shame really - do hope to see him in first grade at some stage though

Lol….

They might of thought about it....for a second. Even if available I very very much doubt they'd debut him against the Roosters. Easily the worst team to choose to throw him in against.

Imagine the fun Guerra, Cordner, Jennings, SBW, Maria Hargreaves, et al would have running at Moses!?

When he gets a run I'd expect Teddy and Farah to both be fit again

Well at least Moses has given himself a nickname now, famous even before he hits first grade - the FGC.

No way the Tigers were going to debut him this week or the next

The Brisbane game would of been the ideal game in my opinion , but his defence isn't up to it yet

If teams get the ball for multiple sets they will target him all match long and he will make Benji and Lui look like Trevor Gillmeister

If he played against the Roosters with out Farah,Tedesco and Gavet he would overtake Brooks for most mis-tackles all year. The Roosters pack would LOVE to run at Brooks and Moses.

He wouldnt of been picked to play against the Roosters, Other Teams they could of picked him to play against that would be a bit easier, Not that there are any easy games.

I think some of you are confusing his possible selection with your comments about his defence and pairing with Brooks…

If he was gona play, it was more than likely at the expense of Rowe!

Training at FB with the NRL squad since Rowes debut.

Considering Rowe is complete and utter dross he could not have done any worse.

Moot point now anyway

I love these people saying no way he was even considered this week. Especially u Happy up in QLD.

Like i said in another thread, its my belief Mitch has cost himself his first grade debut

I'm saying he shouldn't be even being considered KS

Look at some of his defence on Saturday night alone it was Mashallesque

The outcome is not desirable either way.

Happy mate have u seen Rowes defence? I have no doubt Moses would put his body on the line more than Kurtis.

Battle of the human turnstyles…let the spinning begin! Moses brings a lot more to the table in attack...

Since when is defence such a massive priority for a fullback? I would have thought kick returns and kick diffusion to be the most important elements to consider.

If we are concerned about our fullback not making tackles, it means players in the front line are missing them. If there is a break made with only the fullback to beat, my expectation for all first grade fullbacks is that they will be beaten 9/10 times.
