The Netherlands were just playing for a draw in extra time. You're gambling going to a penalty shootout and it cost them.

I think Germany, Netherlands and Brazil all underestimated their opponents today.

2018: Lost to Belgium in the Round of 16 after conceding in the 94th minute.

2022: Lost to Croatia on penalties in the Round of 16.

2026: Lost to Brazil in the Round of 32 after conceding in the 96th minute.
Japan have now played in EIGHT World Cups, but they've never won a knockout match.
They're still waiting for their first-ever quarter-final.
