SOO 1 Score Predictions.

That was the weakest 3/4 line Qld has fielded in many years. NSW exploited it a few times and got two tries from it but when that is strengthened next game what then?

Theres no attacking flair in the halves or out of dummy half. Gallen wasnt himself, Bird only interested in milking penalties, Dugan barely kept his head above water and limited go forward from the engine room.

QLD played brilliant in patches but that was far from their best. That was NSW best chance for a win this series.

Yeah says you we will have to see wont we.Myles trys and milks just as many penalties.

i thought dugan went well considering. soward, no good went missing in attack and offered little along with young and ennis. qld were just rolling set play after set play and putting on some brilliant moves, nsw's attack looked very out of sorts. with the 1, 6, 7 and 9 nsw have did anyone think there were many points in them? the business of milking penalties is pointless in origin coz the refs put their whistles away, it aint club footy.

NSW are team that are full of runners and kickers but no ball players. The team needs someone who can put doubt in the QLD defence when they have the ball in their hands. Not one NSW player can do that.

That is the crust of NSW's problem. It has been the same for the last 5 years.

Yeah, Mitchell Pearce as a SOO halfback just doesn't do it for me. He's been talked up like he's some sort of Andrew Johns or Alfie Langer, but he's pretty average really IMO. If he's the best halfback option we have, then NSW are really in trouble. I'm not keen on Mullen either, so I don't know who else they could choose.

Nothing wrong with Pearce out there tonight. He didn't get much of a platform laid by his forwards, and NSW had no ball. Chopping and Changing half the side will only hurt them, as later on in the game they actually started to look pretty smooth in attack, hence the 2 tries, only some nervous plays in the first half stunted their attack, which experience will cover. A lack of patience in the selection room is what hurts the Blues, there's simply too much pressure on them to beat a side which is clearly better than them. The fact a side containing Slater, Thurston, Lockyer, Smith and Cronk had nearly 60% of possession with lots of that on our line and only came away with 3 tries says a lot.

I thought Pearce went fine too, but he may need someone more creative at 5/8 than Soward, in saying that I'd be happy for Soward to be given another go, but they should be using him properly and what he brings to the table; his kicking game, which wasn't happening in the first half.

Interesting stat
Qld 4 props (Civ, Scott, Lillyman, Hannant) played a combined total of 150 minutes
Made 82 tackles between them
Got the ball 57 times between them
Made 52 hit ups between them

NSW props (Snowden, King, Mannah, Merrin) played a combined total of 121 minutes (29 less than Qld)
Made 102 tackles between them (20 more than Qld)
Got the ball 24 times between them (33 less)
Made 22 hit ups between them (30 less)

That says a lot about exactly how much ball the Qlders had

Stats can be a bit misleading - averaging shows how more effective Qlds props were - over the 80 mins they avg 9.3 mtrs per run - NSW 6 mtrs per run - the hooking match is even more comical

C Smith played full 80 mins - touched the ball 121 times - 11 runs for 71 mtrs - 1 try assist - 1 tackle bust - 41tackles and 1 error

Ennis and Young combined 90 mins - touched the ball 70 times - 3 runs for 19 mtrs ( i would say Youngs 2 runs for 15 mtrs came when he was not playing hooker - Ennis had 1 run for 4mtrs!!! Combined they mad 73 tackles no try assists no tackle busts and a couple of glaring errors.

What my stat was showing was how much ball Qld actually had. The NSW props made 20 more tackles between them, in 29 less minutes. When they actually got the ball, they were gone from tackling all game.

That is probably right but what that also proves is you can't beat QLKD by defending well - you need to have players who make mtrs

Qld line speed is far faster than NSW That will have a lot to do with it also
