Souths after Tim Moltzen...

Its not meant as an insult, more an observation - it may be looked on as an insult if one saying it frequents with the players as many here do, and their opinions can take on a more personal outlook.
I agree with you to a point, I agree also with Troy in its clear he has talent, you dont just lose that….and i fear if he goes he will come back to bite us.
But he's shown nothing really so far, is first grade the place to be getting your match fitness and confidence back? Not to mention him being played out of position?
Imo no its not - and that points once again to the coaching staff.

if he lacks confidence he should be building it up in nsw cup not first grade.

Exactly, I know we have had injuries but I would have preferred he learn the finer points of fullback in the NSW Cup as well.

Mate exactly, im not trying to bash Sheens, but he has killed him this year by being too loyal to the guy. He's killed him with love. He absolutely should have started the year in State Cup. Some argue that playing State Cup would do him no good as its a lesser compitition, but we all know when coming back from injury its all about fitness, timing and confidence. And what better place to get those things right than in a lesser comp? State Cup was perfect for him. I dare say that if Sheens took this route with him, we all would be talking about Tim Moltzen in a much more positive light.

Tim Sheens has done some great great things for this club, and he has made the odd decision that leaves us scratching our heads….....but his decision to not start Moltzen in State Cup at the beginning of the year is one of his all time great stuff ups.

Okay Moltzen's efforts at fullback have not been great, but on potential alone I think he is worth sticking with. With McKinnon heading off to the ESL we need to find a replacement. Confidence will come with experience. Really he has the more natural ability than all the other contenders, so lets give him a break and get off his back.

How can anybody use Yow Yeh's try as saying Moltzen has no heart?
He was the attacking player chasing a kick .
Not the first time him or nearly every other winger has done it in every game every week.
Some guys are very good at it.
The commentators at the time didn't think Moltzen did anything wrong - instead they praised the good play of Yow Yeh.
I suppose when Folau was doing it to every fullback in the comp - including Slater - some of you guys were calling them all cats as well.
What a joke!

Supercoach and tktiger, please get the rose coloured glasses off. Moltzen is a disgrace and should not be playing first grade. Not his fault but Sheens'.

Should have started playing for Bret or the Magpies to get some sort of confidence. As it is, he is and embarassment to himself, his coach and the team. If you cannot see that then there is no hope for either of you.

I think the point some people are trying to make is that Moltzen doesn't appear to put his body on the line for those 1% plays. His instinct looks more like self-preservation than pure football reactions.

I don't know the kid personally, but he does put in some half-hearted efforts, e.g. the attempted tackle on Gasnier last week where he ended up offering a bit of a push and falling onto his bum.

I just want to see him giving 100% every time. He has the talent, but some of his plays don't show the conviction that sometimes make lesser talented players better footballers.

E.g. Josh Miller at the Raiders doesn't have much size or skill, he's never going to be a rep footballer, but he goes in crazy hard every time and people respect that.

jirskyr - I believe you echo the majority of Forum member's opinion of Moltzen is on his 2011 form.

So much talent but he needs to put his body on the line.

I would not survive one tackle in the NRL but we need to understand Moltzen is paid good money and has choosen NRL as his career and needs to perform week in week out like he deserves a position and contract with WT.

He appears to be in Sheen's 2012 planning for first shot at full back. He needs to put his best foot forward when given the opportunity at full back like tonight (if McKinnon is out injured).

We need a spine of Moltzen, Marshall, Lui and Farah to gell and fire.

this wont put his body on the line is a load of crap, as is calling any player as heartless or a cat.

players let kicks bounce all the time, misjudge things, saying this makes a player heartless or that he wont put his body on the line is a load of crap.

Mate at the moment he is playing a different position every week in a team that is playing busted coming back from a horrendous injury, he has not had many cards fall in his favor of late. Confidence is a big thing, I still think he could end up being a very good no1

His biggest problem has been not being able to settle in one position - if you think he won't put his body on the line in tackles then you should be watching some others in the team who don't get within an arms length of making important tackles and then simply shrug their shoulders and shake their heads.
I doubt very much if Sheens or his teammates think he's an embarrassment.
He is suffering from playing out of position because he's the ONLY one in the team (apart from Marshall who rightly stayed at 5/8) with the talent to cover half , centre and fullback through our run of injuries.
He is doing the team a favour - not the other way around.
Personally I think he should be at half but obviously Sheens wants him at the back.

He just stands under a bomb while a winger running at full pace jumps above him to grab the ball.
Wow - that's never happened before in the history of rugby league!
Why not point the bone at some of the others in the team who 'just stand there' in the defensive line and let their opposition run around them because they're either too lazy or slow to react and then just shrug their shoulders and shake their heads if no-one else in the team covers their mistakes.
They're the ones I'd like to see at Souths.
