Split the Big 4?

I made a comment on stating that we should split the big 4, im keen to see what everyone thinks. I know I will more than probably get shot down for this, and understandably so but it is a forum.

So my idea was to get rid of Woods, Moses and Brooks whilst only keeping Tedesco.

Make a play for Jack Bird and Chad Towsend from Cronulla.

To replace Woods, there is stacks off props off contract, amongst them are Nelson Asofa Solemona, Kane Evans, Charlie Gubb, Felise Kaufusi, Patrick Kaufusi etc.

To move forward, we need to change the culture in the club. We don't need players who think they are bigger than the club.

If Cleary comes in here, I am almost certain you will find that what I have mentioned will become reality. Just like he got rid of Lewis, Jennings, Gordon at Penrith.

Do you really think Nelson Asofa Solemona, Kane Evans, Charlie Gubb, Felise Kaufusi, Patrick Kaufusi are in the same class as Woods?

Next you'll be saying Mbye is a great replacement for Thurston.
 
Instead of shafting Woods, why not get rid of the weakest link which is Brooks and with that money buy some forwards like Solemona,Evens or whoever to support Woods
 
I'd take a Townsend/Careny combo over Brooks/Moses. Cheaper, more experienced and a possiblity of immediate success which we need rather than planning for the future. We need success now. So yes, split the 4

Moving out older players is very different than moving out players who are effectively at the start of their career. However, in saying that, if Tedesco and Woods were to stay and Moses and Brooks were to leave i'd be ok with that.

Hahahah. Of course they are not in the same class. But three or four of those props will have more of an effect on the game than one Woods will.
 
I wouldn't be unhappy if we dropped Brooks, but Tedesco and Woods should stay, and Moses to an extent, although I'm 50/50 in regard to him. I don't rate Chad Townsend - he was a nothing player and then really picked up his form at the Sharks under Flanagan. Has still had patches where he hasn't played that well however. He seems like one of those players who is just comfortable with and well adapted to his team - put him anywhere else (our club) and he'd look average imo.

So Brooks yes, but the others I'd leave at this stage.

I thought Towsend did exceptionally well at the Warriors to be fair.
 
Woods does work hard attacking and defending so he should stay, unfortunately he only has one pace and it is not very fast. Those Islanders have size and pace.
 
As Tedesco is by far the most talented and most sought after player and would walk into any team in the NRL is the most likely to split..
 
It was reported by Paul Kent, that the Management for Moses, is asking $900000 per season…...

I would not consider him to be worth anywhere near that figure.
Brooks would probably asking for something a little less....again not worth it.

The WT should ask around to see who else is available in those positions and try to lock down players who are value for money in those positions. We need established 1st graders.
If they can find those players, then sign them and let Broses go....

In the long run, we cannot afford to have all that money tied up in players who we hope have potential.
That extra money should be spent in the positions that need strengthening, centre, back row...

I don't mind giving Moses that kind of money…as long as he earns it and shows he is a regular NRL playmaker...at this stage $400k per year is being generous for what he is producing...

Why would players of that quality all of a sudden want to come here, when all weve been able to attract in the past is players with injury histories or those with issues and big ????s surrounding them?
Wed have to pay massive overs…its partly whats gotten us in the mess were in now.
Players from top four clubs, premiership clubs arent going to be lining up for the basket case spoon favourites

100% agree with you. I think signing Cleary would be the first step in possibly signing them.

We have nothing that can entice them apart from money, but if we can somehow pull something off then that would be great.
 
Moses asking $900k.
Its been reported that Anthony Milford is asking the same price.
Jason Taumalomo only got an $100k per year than that (albeit for 10 years).

Nothing will be sorted retention/recruitment wise till we get a coach. Even then knowing our club we'll draw it out till the enth degree.
 
Teddy and Woods for me. I'd take Asofa-Solomona and Evans but it all depends on how the new coach (hopefully Cleary) wants to run things. If he wants a bench like JT then we've got no chance, but a move to a Potter-style bench and we might be in with a shot. I'd definitely prefer the latter but until then, I'd be happy just to lose Broses.

1\. Teddy $1m per year
2\. woods $800-$850 per year
3\. Moses $500 per year
4\. Brooks $400 per year

Similar for me, tho I would pay them 50k less.

Ted - 1 Mil
Woods - 750-800
Moses - 500
Beooks - 350
