Stake your reputation

We will struggle as a team.
Our backline is terrible (AD, AJ, Talau gone) we have yet another spine combo, no forward game breaker and will be carved up.

3 home games in our 1st 10 games sucks.
Any changes there MT

Well I've gone through Stake Your Reputation topic and there isn't any real stand out losses or gains in reputations.
Liddle is an obvious omission.
Only on member tipped Alex to get a meat pie. 🤔 lets hope that happens.
Noone really talked about goal kicking.
Now you cant add to these predictions boys, this is just an update! If Ive missed a successful prediction thats already happened, throw it in.

My prediction is simple. I dont care who is playing or in what position. We have talent to upset a few sides.

It will come down to leadership - again. Do we have ANYONE in the team that will stand there and hold players accountable, look them in the eye and tell them to lift their ******* game or **** off.

If someone provides that leadership, we go well. If not, we flop. Hastings maybe.

The one thing I know is that regardless of the results, Madge will probably get flicked, which is typical of football clubs. It s a joke to think you replace the coach and suddenly the teams fires and become instant Top 8. It doesnt happen. You may get a few wins after the change, but players revert back to who they are before long and the new coach is just the same.

Until players take accountability, then nothing will change. And you cant blame the coach in this instance because he 'has the team he wanted'. Simply, with limited money, poor club reputation, ego's, I bet Madge isnt even close to what he wanted.

It goes deeper than the players and coaches. It’s ingrained into the culture of the club. 3 finals series in 22 seasons is beyond the pale when half the sides in the competition play finals every year. There hasn’t even been the odd year we have fallen over the line in 8th place, like most sides in the position do. It’s extremely poor. I don’t see why this season will be any different to the previous 10.

Yeah, haven't "fallen over the line in 8th place". Sadly though, out WT have crashed into the last hurdle to finish ninth more than once.

After the last few years, I would be nearly satisfied for that to occur this season and our reputation somewhat improved on the back of it.

It’s ridiculous to think 9th place could be enough for Madge to keep his job, yet it would be his 4th consecutive year without finals. Previous coaches were sacked and not re-signed for much less.

Agreed, but with that rationale, we will NEVER make the finals and may as well disband, relocate or go support another team.

1 flat tyre, change and move on. 4 flat tyres, takes a little longer

None of them inherited the ******** that Madge has.

Debatable or extremely close to dead heats at best for mine.

This year Maguire has more going for him than any other since Sheens and remembering that he was on the paintbrush or similar at times of real struggle for WT, probably for some of his tenure as well.

I just don‘t see the point in sacking him now. A new coach would come in having been robbed of a pre season. They had their chance to sack him after the final round last year, but didn’t have the nerve. They have made their bed imo.

Well that went down like a led fart, maybe tigerballs you should have named your topic "Fearless Predictions of the Week" not much reflecting going on in those last posts.

Okay... Brooks, Madge, Liddle, lovers/haters etc optimists/pessimists, season 2022, if you've got the nerve, all you experts please make your predictions here for the first 10 rounds:

Nice work reminding everyone though Cobar. I reckon a few are having a bit of a re-think.

I think we will upset a few teams this year when Hastings played in the second trial we looked a lot better then we did in the first half of the first trial him actually leading the team helped us, I liked what I saw from Gildart room for improvement sure but he wasn’t our worst player in both trials he did pretty good considering he hasn’t played NRL before, our forwards in defence actually pushed the opposition backwards well at least put more effort into it than previous years Gardiner or Cayless did a good job there I can’t remember who the defensive coach is, however I don’t see Madge getting sacked mid season unless after 10-12 rounds our record is 1-11 or something like that but I don’t think he’ll be safe for 23 unless we make the 8 but that’s just my opinion if we finish 9th or 10th it might be enough to keep his job but if we do finish around there while the positive is we’ve improved the downside is its 4 consecutive years for him with no finals for the club so its 50/50 if we finish around the same as last year or only improve by 1 or 2 spots he’ll be sacked for sure and Gardiner would take over as head coach for 23 some have said that Wolfe from the SL and Tonga coach should be coaching us from 23 if we do sack Madge but don’t know if he’ll come or even has talked to the club but that’s my stake for 22 I think we have the potential to improve and could possibly make the 8 but if we do we just make it we definitely aren’t winning the premiership that’s for sure
