State of Origin 2025

Tinfoil hat time...

What if Daley and the powers that be in NSW camp, not only called up Doueihi to counteract the anti-tigers conspiracy BUT also to weaken the tigers potentially. A week and a half of training without our starting centre can unsettle a team.

And if the rumours of Daley wanting Seyfarth are also true, this feeds the conspiracy even more so. Think about it, the two shallowest positions in our current roster, centre and 2nd row, and they are the two positions Daley selects? No offence to those players but I don't think anyone would argue that those two players have been banging the door down for Origin selection.

Tinfoil hat off, good for Doueihi to spend some time in the Blues camp. Well done, Adam!
I don’t think it’s anti wests tigers per se . I think it’s the panthers— connection having control across nswrl , and exercising that control . From Alexander to Fittler , to the training staff , to Gould , to even Daley .
As well as Bellamy in the background .
They are off Luai because he chased the money to come here . They are off the May brothers for a variety of on and off field indiscretions , and no matter what those guys do , with the current status quo re. The panthers tentacles being all over nswrl , they will struggle . Same thing with Api as Luai .
It’s sour grapes . My guess it probably stems back to a host of issues , but really it escalated when we tried to poach Cleary only for them to poach the older Cleary .
Until we win on the footy field , and through that get ourselves some people in power both on the field and the back room , this will continue to happen.
Even Max king is a former storm player , and Stefano was probably promised a blues jersey as part of his contract offer from the storm .
It’s shit , but , the nswrl is bias and corrupt .always has been . The only thing that changes is which teams and those administrators are the ones in control .
In the 80s it was manly , Balmain and the dogs , then in the 90s pre super league , it was dogs , manly and Canberra , then post super league everything came out of the roosters and knights and dragons . Then it went dragons dogs and roosters , then roosters and manly for a fair chunk of time with some dogs (but really manly because of des) , then the roosters and sharks , then now into the Penrith and roosters era .
It’s horseshit , but what can you do , out side of making your case undeniable to be included / shift the power dynamics in those rooms

Or the best teams have the best players and they have on average better combinations.

However I do agree with May. He ain’t getting picked. The fact Luai got a call means he’s still on the radar.

Unless Stefano grew a spine , I can’t see that happening . Even against us early on , he was a passenger . And they won 64-0. He is about as close to an origin prop as I am to getting a date with Brie Larson .
Mate, I dated her and she’s not all she’s cracked up to be. But, go ahead, live your best life.

I feel less excitement for SOO than previous years, is the shine going off it or is it just my old self being less involved.
I’m hoping that changes next week coz it’s been something I’ve usually enjoyed.

do you see Nathan Cleary as the GOAT if he dominates an origin series or is he already there? curious to hear others opinions.

He is well on his way. Rep footy needs more results but he has time.
His main rival is Joey so lets compare them:

It should be noted that only 2 of the series wins Joey had were when he played halfback (2003 and 05)
1996 and 97 NSW won with Toovey as half and Joey at 9.
2000 NSW won with Kimmorley as half with Joey off the bench.

Thanks for the stats, he’s definitely got time to rack up a few more reps will be interesting to see where he finishes up.

Im a QLder and I think he may score another series win this year. The only spine member I fully trust is DCE. He is consistent. The other 3 range between brilliant and quiet and if you get them on a bad day, they go to water.
If he stays healthy, I think by the time he is 30 Nathan will eclipse Johns at rep level. It will then be a question of club records. 4 premierships with 2 Clive Churchills beats 2 premierships with 1 currently, however Joeys Golden boots and Dally M awards also need to be achieved to some degree.

Hi Ezybro:
Like others have mentioned it all comes down to personal opinion.
I look at the immortals and can’t forget that the King (Wally) missed the starting 5/8 position in England on an Ashes tour to Brett Kenny and How many times Joey John’s started games as a Hooker for NSW with another halfback preferred.
I don’t think anyone should be called the GOAT as it comes down to individual opinions that not everyone would ever agree on.

With rep games, opposition has an important impact on the stats as well. Joey played in some of the best NSW sides ever. He played in Australian sides stacked to the moon with talent. They both missed out on facing the QLD decade of dominance although Cleary will play most of his Test rep games with weakened squads due to Australian born and bred players defecting to the island nations of their ancestors. His NSW sides have been very strong as well though.

I’m calling the Jarome Luai omission the worst selection in origin history.

Jarome Luai
• 4 successive premierships as a five eighth
• Incumbent series winner
• Has played all bar one game in 2025 leading the three time wooden spooners to 12 points after 12 rounds. 2 points behind 5th place. Ahead of both Penrith and Parramatta.
• His decision to leave the premiers for the spooners was honourable and should be applauded.

Moses has been injured regularly and his team is losing footy games.

Cleary’s form of late warrants the halfback role.

Laurie deserves to be one and done.
