Stefano Utoikamanu #241

All the media dicks are saying he won’t be hear at tigers , best get use to it , it’s only a matter of days and it will be official .

TBF, I can’t be angry at anyone doing what they think is right for themselves.

But one thing I will point out. $800k+ is for the elite, that dominate other forwards By thenmsleves. (Example is fonua Blake on the weekend).

Stef has potential, currently he isn’t even the best forward in our pack, let alone dominating regularly.

I would love to keep him. I also see that that Money is paying on potential. Which has also burnt us in the past.

As the days go by, I am more comfortable with the possibility of stef moving on for an easier route to finals. (Rather than being a big reason we change our fortunes).

I think he’s gone and the only thing that matters to me is us finding a quality replacement.
When I look at the actual impact he has provided in every game this season it doesn’t add up to a whole lot, and I honestly see many more props in the game that perform better for their teams on a consistent basis than he does for us.

Yep, well said. A lot of insults directed at him but he has every right to negotiate and leave. I don't think we should make it personal. He's done his time for us and now he's apparently off, fair enough.

My concern with him is simply that he's not worth 800k a year and 5 years would tie us to that gamble in a way that severely limits us.

If it's that contract or him leaving, I'd prefer he left. We've seen what he can produce for us, whatever the circumstances, and it's not worth that contract.

If I were Stefano I'd go to Melbourne, sounds like a great contract and the opportunity to work for Bellamy (even if only for a year) at an always successful club.

On the last couple of year's form, I would not put Stef in the top dozen front rowers in the comp. It's quite easy to find 12 who have performed, or who just are, so much better: JWH, Haas, JFH, Moses Leota, Tapine, Tino F, AFB, Reuben Cotter, Jesse Bromwich, Lindsay Collins, Terrell May, Spencer Lenui. If coaches like Bellamy want him then he must have potential, but currently he is not showing anywhere near what a $800K prop should be providing.

Good luck to him. Most of my anger has worn off because of two reasons. Firstly, we really suck. Secondly, he hasn't looked like a 500k player for some time, let alone 800k. No matter what he goes on to achieve he isn't going to be part of leading a change in our pack's attitude, and that is abundantly clear.

Can we cut him clean now? Or are we forced to play him in Reggie's cause he's contracted.

Maybe we could ask him to give up the last portion of 2024 contract as good will (the same way we let him explore early)..

He's a good Mormon so surely he should beleive in doing the right thing.
