Stefano Utoikamanu #241

So disappointing, but with those comments real weak character issues for mine. Not the character we really need to climb off the bottom. If he'd played to his potential nearly every game we'd be in a better position. Why not give the cub one more year with Luia coming, Richo making roster upgrades etc. He's still young to be hoping for finals. Spend the money on 2 experienced middle hard heads and we are better off.

I've said it before, Stef isn't a leader of a pack to lift a team off the bottom. He is a piece of the puzzle in a good pack, if that makes sense? He is a very good piece of that puzzle, just not the leader of it.

I'm concerned about losing him because we drop off significantly when he isn't on the field. Even when he isn't playing great we drop off. His size, mobility and stamina is hard to come by and at his best he is awesome.

It's one of those situations where if he leaves you think "well he hadn't earnt 800k a year so good", and if he stays you feel relieved we haven't lost a big unit like him at a young age.

Stefano is not that intelligent...reading his quotes in the SMH article...he wants out....not once did he indicate he wants to stay and lead the forwards throught this rebuild, it was all about me me me and how he is sick of losing...hello...so are we but jumping ship ain't gonna fix it mate
Funny eh, the players leave cause they're sick of losing, yet they play a part in the losing team.

He might not have signed elsewhere yet, but it does sound like he's made his mind up to move on.

I'm not terribly disappointed. At $800k that's way over what he's worth and he obviously doesn't have the fighting mentality we need. Just another who wants to be carried.
I would be telling him that the $800k offer reduces by $50k every week that he doesn't sign which may get him thinking because the lower our offer goes the less other teams need to offer him to secure his services.

Piss of and take a punt that wherever you go that you might possibly have a chance at some premiership success but you can forgo a lot of money in the process, and who is to say that in the next 5 years with Richo at the helm that you could of had premiership success at the Wests Tigers.

The insinuation on the local radio news this morning that the Tigers have a job to fight Canberra and the dolphins to keep him this year (before the June 30 deadline). “They are ready to pounce”

Manager is scum
If that’s true, today could be his last game for us.

You know what, I'd take an immediate release to Canberra if it's a swap with Trey Mooney.

Yes Stef is currently a better player, but if he wants out and we secure a top prospect in Mooney for much less money, allowing us to sign an experienced prop like Hunt, we come out in front.

Id be happy if we added Mooney, Hunt and Jack Williams or Tallis Duncan to our middle.

I know Hunt has been coming off the bench, but you could start him. Instead of playing 15 minutes either side of half time, play him 15 min to start the game and set the scene. Then again at some stage on the 2nd half.

I’d take this swap as well. No question. We simply need more first graders.

Definitely gone - is saying so himself. Now the difficulty is for the club to find a player(s) to replace him. The only upside being that he isn’t that consistent and is often soft so replacing him with a solid aggressive prop who plays tough every week may just be an improvement for us.
Can’t say that he has won me over - his attitude needs adjusting.
