Stefano Utoikamanu #241

Yes he doesnt put in as we need.
I put a lot of this on our coaching lately.
I don't remember Stef ever really having a break out game and announcing himself. Under any coach.

He's always just been a bit player that has somewhat flown under the radar.

Won't be missed.

Benji could do with some help
Improving the roster is always essential

and Papalii
Yes, so it looks like we will have:

Stef 800k
Papalii 700k
Bateman 670k

2.1 million+ for next year available for 4 spots if Bateman leaves according to @KingRobbie. Sione Fainu is not re-signed yet, so there would be 1/4 taken and not sure how much he would be on.

Ive always considered him a bench prop. Come on after the softening up period and do a job.
He has always been used wrong.

Those last 3 need to be cracking signings or its unlikely to be a good year again despite Luai.

To me it says that, we kick people when they are going out the door. In Richo's short term, it's been Fulton and now Stefano. In Benji's term, we can add Lee and Pascoe as well.

Not sure what's wrong with just saying thank you for your time, we wish you well in the future. Stefano didn't play well last couple of months, completely understand that but to be given this type of farewell by the fans and now the CEO- I don't feel he deserves that.

Seems like I'm in a massive minority here with this so I'll just leave it at that.

I can't see this club going anywhere.
You mite be right about the clubs prospects...seperate issue in many respects..
but Stefano has been given every opportunity and financial incentive to remain with the club that gave him a start..
In return,he completely failed us in his commitment both on and off the field,,never put in
No respect here

Didnt Stef say words to the effect that he doesnt think the joint can turn around?
Who cares ?? As if he is going to say anything that will undermine his reasons for leaving .. FFS he has played like a flog all season and I an embarrassed at his defence from the weekend. Piss him off to Aaron Payne , this week and give a guy a go that wants to play for us and lead the pack . I’m over the big sook

He fought with us for 3 years before this, when we re-signed him for 5 years, no one was complaining then. This club sucks the life out of you and not everyone is meant for that. We tried to turn a 5/8 into a halfback for 10 years and kicked him on the way out, and now this guy who doesn't have leadership qualities but has an abundance of talent. Instead of giving him the coaching required, we call him pissweak and kick him out.

Accept your failure that we aren't able to coach the players instead of blaming the players. He's probably going to go down to Melb on a lesser contract and definitely more physically demanding. He will have guys like King, Welch, Grant etc who will play him to his strength.
Haha what a joke.
Yeah the coaches play a part but the guy has been nothing but a pillow for us and has show Jack all initative as a leader. I'm well and able to take a swipe at him, he has let us as a club and the fans down. He has been a myth of a prop

It's true. Depth is not good even with 3 brilliant signings. Realistically, we may get one good signing and a couple of fringe players then spend another year coming last or second last. In 2026 there is more on the market plus we have a lot of deadwood coming off contract.

I try to remain hopeful given clubs are always offloading players, but agree that as it stands, we need a miracle for 2026 regardless of who we sign to replace these guys.
