Sydney Morning Herald - Wests Tigers seek new general manager

This really concerns me for a number of reasons.

The General Manager approach in the US has been around for a long time but in more reason times, particularly in the NFL, there is a greater recognition that good coaches need greater control.

The statements in this article by Pascoe reek of extreme arrogance. I hope he isn't actually like he comes across. His resume isn't that impressive and it concerns me that we have a very dominant CEO. Its either his way or the high way.

Regardless of what people think of Taylor, the structure proposed by Pascoe is going to make it very hard to recruit a top coach.

Following on from his silly Phil Moss leaving press release (who does a press release about a non-public position like Moss's), it seems to me that Pascoe is a rank amateur. I am very concerned with the direction this club is heading.

Sorry but I don't really agree on most of your points and you seem to have some kind of vendetta aginst Mr Pascoe to be honest

Whoever they employ to this position I just hope they do a good job and stay put

Too much change lately

Robbie Farah can retire at year end and take up this role. Hang on doesn't he do it already.

That is what I like to hear but if was true then I expect that WT would be in a better position.

This is the first time I have posted about Pascoe. I had no opinion of him until he issued that stupid press release earlier in the week and he has compounded with further silly statements which suggest "its all about Justin". Fine if you disagree. Happy to hear your reasons than simply dismissing my view as vindictive.

_The Wests Tigers also need to shed players before the season starts. NRL cap auditors have begun club inspections, ensuring a rush of market activity in the coming weeks._

I see that sometimes giving an Ex player a role within the Club does not always mean they are the best Candidate for a Particular Role .
There would be quite a few Ex players that would have the Clubs best interest at heart….Mark O'Neil , Brett Hodgson , Skando ,Ben Galea but whether they have the eye for Talent and everything else that the role requires ? is a different ball game i suppose.

The Season can't come quick enough......never been an Off Season like it .

. My first thought on this press release was "heard it all before"
Sounds to me like he's trying to impress supporters / members with it

FT,the WTs off season, absolutely "rivetting" stuff….we could make a mini series out of it..
Would be bigger than the young and the restless..hahaha :roll

what was wrong with the "old model"?

it feels like too many visions, not much actual work being done. however, the job description sounds like they want an "X-factor" in the management.

it all just feels weird but hoping they give it enough time this time, rather than chopping and changing.

He talks the talk but i wanna see him walk the walk. I'm not convinced in him yet, seeing as his solution to the farah/ taylor stand off is, let's just see how things work out.

Our whole season comes down to his solution to that problem. And i think we got another dud on ours hands

Do they get a League hard head or go with an outsider with better credentials. My opinion the position could be given to a female.

I used to support sharing the spoils of good jobs around but not much any more. When they are given positive discrimination but not up to the job then everyone suffers.
